Paint Names Missing (?)

Although this might not be an issue for many, I often feel frustrated by the lack of paint names when choosing from manufacturer colours. There are certain cars you can hardly tell the difference between almost identical paints. Surely each colours featured in the section are modelled after the real life counterparts. So, why does Turn10 not add their names to the game?

Because if they put the names in the game, then you might realize how poorly some of the colors match the shades they’re supposed to be representing.

That’s a lot of paint names to research . . . .

Most of the manufacturer colors in Forza are at least somewhat close to the real colors offered on each car, so it’s obvious that they’re already looking at real-world color information when modeling cars for the game. Since they’re already going to that much trouble, it wouldn’t be much additional effort to put the names of each color in the game. Unfortunately, it seems clear that the trend is toward providing less information, not more, as evidenced by the deletion of the engine displacement and “Launch” stats in FM6, so I’m not going to hold my breath waiting to see color names in any future titles.

It is a bit of a nuisance. And, as far as I can work out, they don’t even tell you the paint codes to recreate the same color in the game either. So if I want to have carbon fiber stripes on a car, I have to respray the whole car carbon fiber and then sort of guess which color code matches the manufacture’s to respray the rest of the car in.

I am really glad to see the discussion going. As some of you pointed out, Turn 10 may not have included the names for some reasons. I am not expecting it to be resolved anytime soon. But I just want them to give us a reasonable explanation to the issue at least.

Unfortunately, I think you’ll have to get used to being disappointed on this. I’d love to be proven wrong, but I suspect that the chances of a developer weighing in on the paint-name issue are about as good as the chances of a stock VW Beetle winning the Formula One Constructor’s Championship.

It would be kinda fun to see the old names listed that Dodge cleverly had in the early 70’s. Top Banana, Plum Crazy, Go ManGo, SubLime, Sassy Grass Green.

Not even. So you want the manufacturer’s name for what they determine that particular shade of blue is AND the manufacturer’s code? For every freaking car/variation in the game?

Hold both of your hands out, wish in one…

Forza’s big competitor on the other major console platform does include the color names, so it’s not like it’s a crazy, unprecedented idea.

It is important to note that the big competitor includes more than 1,200 cars and their paint names. I am not saying the game is superior to the Forza series, but adding the paint names should not be too difficult considering the number of vehicles featured.

Color code is probably the wrong word, I suppose I mean the coordinates used to create colors in the game. The numerical values for the three bars that come up when you want to “fine tune” a color. That’s definitely doable. They’ve had to create the colors available for the cars with those charts anyway, so they might as well make the information available.

For the record, Forza Motorsport (or Horizon) has never listed either the color codes or the names given the colors by the manufacturers. They have never been included, therefore not missing.

I’m certain that no one in this thread ever claimed that they had been listed in the past. But thanks, I guess, for making that clear anyway.
