P1 V. La Ferrari V. 918... Which is the Greatest?

So, as a follower of all things cars… The debate of P1 v. La Ferrari v. 918 still rages today. I have been wanting to take some time and test these cars in a “Time Trial” on FH3… So I did! I wanted to test them in their Stock form and then again in a “Modified” S2 class form. (Base tunes with only tire pressure, gears, and springs tuned) I chose 3 of my personal favorite “Sprint” races that I thought would be good for all 3 cars to show their strengths and weaknesses!

Track 1: Togun Bypass
Track 2: Rainforest Grand Sprint
Track 3: City Streets

I ran 3 timed (Clean) runs in Rivals with each car, and counted the best time I got from each one. I did this with the stock versions and modified S2 versions of the cars. Below are my findings! I wish I was stellar at Forza videography, because this would be a great Youtube Series. Maybe me and Don Joewon Song could team up on something! Anyways, here are my results.

Togun Bypass (Stock)------------Togun (Modified)
La Ferrari- 2:14.268---------------2:07.995
P1- 2:13.600-----------------------2:06.160
918- 2:13.734----------------------2:06.637

Rain forest Grand (Stock)--------Rain forest (Modified)
La Ferrari- 2:36.390---------------2:30.584
P1- 2:36.323-----------------------2:27.447
918- 2:39.726----------------------2:29.516

City Streets (Stock)---------------City Streets (Modified)
La Ferrari- 1:56.283----------------1:52.379
P1- 1:55.916------------------------1:51.678
918- 1:55.115-----------------------1:52.112

As you can see, the P1 pretty much doninated! The La Ferrari and P1 were very evenly matched throughout all of the tracks. The 918 struggled big time in the Rain Forest Grand due to the high speed nature of the track. The P1 seems to be the best car overall (for my driving) but the others were amazing to drive in both forms. Each has it’s quirks. The 918 has incredible turn-in, while the P1 has tons of understeer. The La Ferrari is balanced through the the turns, but lacks the great turn-in. The P1 is just an animal… The car just wants to go fast, whether you like it or not! I have more time behind the wheel of the P1, and it is, in my opinion the greatest car ever built. I would be interested to hear and see anyone else’s thoughts on this!

You got to tune a car for a certain race settings. Speed isnt everything. Did you add a Aero rear-wing? That is required to do racing. Without it your car doesn’t handle that good. The 918 Spyder is my best car, i even got #33 of 1.1 million on a speed trap it handles so well. Its all about how you tune it.

It is not true to say without a rear wing a car does not handle good.

If you know how to tune the car can still handle well.

The advantage of a rear wing (tuned to minimum) is it gives you some pi to spend. That is more beneficial than any handing impact from the wing.

There are plenty of superfast cars that handle just fine without the Forza wing. All it takes is the right suspension set up, gear ratios, LSD (very important) and tire pressures. A wing is good though - gives better handling and aero, but also adds drag.

In x class the 918 completely embarrasses the other 2.

I’ve also had much more success with the 918. Definitely requires some time spent on suspension, but ultimately is faster, at least for me.

Plenty of top Rivals times to back up claim.

I haven’t done a lot of rivals runs but from driving them all I would certainly lean towards the 918 as my expected best. Will try to test to see if my gut feel is right.

The whole point of this test was to see how the cars did against each other with absolutely NO tune and in stock form, and again with mods maxing them at the top of S2 with a small baseline tune.

I added no aero components because quite frankly, these cars don’t need them in S2. @QuasiBiscuit857, your comments about needing a wing to be fast are absolutely ludicrous… I bet I could pull out lots of cars with no aero mods and beat you. It is all about the tune, and driver. The best mod of them all, is the one behind the wheel.

@R e Z o a k I don’t run X-Class cars because I feel they are outrageously fake. I could see the 918 being an amazing car in X Class though. it is very well balanced, but needed more power to be truly competitive.

Thanks for the responses, guys, I am interested to see what your personal results are!

I will also agree that aero isn’t required to be fast on all cars, I only run the rear wing if I need an extra couple on PI as it normally drops the PI by a little bit.

In S2 the 918 still blows the other 2 away.

Yeah I agree that X is very fake and totally unrealistic in terms of how the cars handle and drive.

So I think everyone agrees that the 918 is the best one?

Nope. I have to disagree. The P1 (for me) is the best car of all 3. It just feels better suited to my driving style.

Driving style doesn’t matter, this was to find what car of the 3 is best and the 918 is the best one.

No…Based on my results, the P1 is the best… not the 918…

Since the test was to see which car was the best. The P1 had the best time in every single race, with the exception of City Streets ran stock… Pretty clear results

Tuning will explain part of the gap if not all of it.

The default tune settings are just plain wrong for AWD. RWD are not as bad although still pretty bad.

Tune the 918 and it is better than your test shows. And no you will not get the same gains from tuning the P1 because it is RWD and does not suffer from as much FH3 default tune understeer as an AWD does.

+1 on 918 X999.
But i dont have other 2 :stuck_out_tongue:

When tuned the results will differ, especially anti roll bars and diff.

My whole point here is to prove which car is best Stock, and Modified to the top of S2. based on my results, the best car overall is the P1. It dominated the other 2 in almost every race in both stock and modified form. It is pretty clear cut to me.

I have ran tons of laps in the P1 on Goliath for example, and the other 2 get nowhere near the lap time I can consistently get with my S2 998 P1. My fast lap is 9:05.xxx with it and the other 2 are easily 15-20 seconds slower. Now I know the goliath is a bad example due to top speed being the main draw in that race, but again, these are my experiences.

I would love to put on a race against some other good drivers that would like to put their 918 and or LaFerrari up against my P1! I think that would be fun and a good tell on which i the best!

Hell, we could even figure out some sort of Rivals experiment on selected tracks by comparing gamertags times.

Add me and invite me when your doing this.

Will do!

I am going to go ahead and put down some Rivals times in my P1 as well to get some base lines for people to compete against

One thing that intrigues me with your test is how your familiarity with each car affected the results. By your own admission you’ve had more experience driving the P1 then either the 918 or LaFerrari and thus it’s not too surprising you managed to get better times in it. I would be interested to see this test done by someone with virtually no experience in any of the cars and see if that makes a difference. Also I reckon there’s a couple of other hypercars we could throw in there for even more variation.

You are absolutely right, however… I had never driven any of them in their stock form until this test, so there was no advantage gained. There are a multitude of other Hypercars that could take the fight to any of them, but this was to compare the “big 3” of the LAF, P1, and 918 since everyone has been comparing them since the beginning of their existence!

I do run my modified P1 more, because my experience with it has been much more prosperous in racing. I would urge others to run their own test though as well!
