P-Class Ferrari #1 641

Decided to knock out some open class races yesterday in order to complete the FOMO requirements for the Ioniq 5 N. The cycled hopper’s hit P-Class and I figured I’d give it a go.

Took all of two minutes in practice to realize the Ferrari’s the only car to be in if you want to compete, so I made a build with light ballast that came out to a PI of 992.

This was on Spa.

I’m super familiar with Spa, probably one of my best tracks in terms of pace.

On my fastest practice laps, I was still off pace by 2-3secs from the leader, which is an eternity at P-Class. I figured they were aliens so I figured I’d see what’s what when the race starts.

I was utterly baffled by what was going on. Weaved through the destruction of Lap 1’s first sector and got within 4-5s of P1 and P2 by the middle of this first lap.

The interval splits kept constant until all of a sudden they were ahead by a few seconds, before P2 dropped to a 1.5s delta. When I was within range of P2, their lines were god awful: twitching left and right, running off track by a mile, entering corners on the inside, braking at odd areas etc.

I watched the replay and the car control looked awful.

And yet they were all ahead on pace by 2-3s a lap. Telemetry showed that they were making an additional 200hp so they were carrying an extra 10-15mph on the straights, but they were keeping up in the corners and braking with the ugliest lines and inputs.

What is going on with these tunes?

I was extremely content with the drivability of my tune and can’t download a leaderboard tune (one, out of principle, and two, because this car requires extreme steering adjustments, like 60% FFB rates with a 45% steering lock reduction).

Clearly they’re removing the restrictor plates, but I couldn’t find a ballast combo that brought it down below X class (I think the heaviest dropped it way below). Heavy wheels, drag tires?

Didn’t explain how they were keeping up in the braking and cornering with the uglies lines you’ve ever seen.

I won’t call grip hacks, but this was the first time I’ve raced online where I saved a replay to inspect for possible cheating.

how much power does yours make?

You can run PI 998 either with the restrictor plate or without:

  • Increase air flow
  • Light ballast
  • Wheels “A” VF309
  • 829HP/1585lb

/

  • Restrict airflow
  • No ballast
  • Wheels “A” VF104 14in/13in
  • 680HP/1481lb

I don’t run P class generally so I don’t know which build is most commonly used but you should be able to easily add 6PI.

this one for Nordschleife, Daytona and Le Mans

this one for everything else ( has way way better handling)

Thanks

Saw you in today’s S-class race on Catalunya (using an elemental!!! Shame on you Jezza :joy::smirk: was wishing PRM ghost didn’t drop out after practice)

I went back and removed the restrictor with the swapped ballast/wheel combo. Way more competitive

Nope, wasn’t an Elemental. Still strong but not Elemental pace:

It’s not cheating. All you have to do is mess around with rim weights and sizes

Was solved as thread reads

Also are you checking your fuel levels? This car has a massive fuel tank and adds seconds to your lap time if you’re leaving too much fuel in.

Thanks, but I’m always on top of fuel

It turned out to be the combination of removing the restrictor plate and flim flamming the ballast with some heavier wheels

Still had me borderline skeptical as to how the two up front weren’t bleeding time with the worst lines I’ve ever seen but the gulf on the straights was at least explainable
