Was wanting to do some race paint schemes for my cars but I don’t have an Xbox anymore to transfer my old layers from previous Forza. I was hoping someone could help out with some open layer logos from the community. As I said I had a few of these before, so I know there are some floating around.
Not sure what you’re after exactly, but I have a bunch of open logos uploaded, just search my GT ‘Private Custard’.
The usual sort of stuff is there, like Recaro, Akrapovic, Mobil 1, Magneti Marelli, Fiat, H-Tune, Yokohama, Koni, Electrical and fire supression stickers for race cars etc etc etc… All copied from real decals, measured in CS6 and translated across.
Not sure what you mean by “open layer” logos. If you’re talking about unlocked vinyls … there are none in Forza now and haven’t been for a while. Otherwise, there are lots and lots of good quality sponsor logos and decals that have been shared. All you need to do is search for them.
I think open layer might mean decals that have no background colour, so they can be placed anywhere on a vehicle, regardless of colour. I always refer to them as ‘hollow’. Not sure if there’s an official description for them!
I try and do that with my vinyl groups, but am still getting around to converting a few of mine
Back in the day we used to share logo files unlocked for usage in a race livery. We could then share and sell our designs online without restriction. It was SOP to save a single background layer with 20+ logos on it (AEM/SHELL etc), put it on a car and either gift it or auction it unlocked. I’m surprised no-one here remembers that. I had a few mega layers with 500+ logos made by the community for Fm2-Fm4, but as I no longer have an Xbox I cannot transfer them.
When they are downloaded from share-front its always locked and cannot be shared in a livery, hence the term “open layer”.
Yup and it’s dumb that they took it out along with car gifting. In certain aspects the game’s arguably less complete (as a base) now than it was back on FM2.
Agree with you on the car gifting, but not on “open layer” vinyls. Many painters withdrew from painting vinyls when FH3 caused problems with this. It’s not dumb, it’s protecting the original artist. If someone wants a vinyl he can either do it from scratch himself or trace an existing one.
Agreed but the painter should have the option to provide their work as locked or unlocked like we could back on FM2/3? (I can’t remember exactly when these was torpedoed by T10). I’d happily give out my logos unlocked for people to use on their own schemes. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me for 100 people to make 100 very slightly different Michelin/Castrol/RAYS/BBS/etc logos.
All this is a shame, but on the other hand, now people can’t get credit for making a paint with logo’s that he didn’t make himself!
I had been gifted about 500+ vinylgroups/logos
but also made at least the same amount myself, which in return gifted back to others…
All I would want, is an ability to import FM4 logos onto xbox one!
could do via backwards compatible program…
But that’s a very long shot tbh!
I did some cars for a guy to use in an online league, and they had to have the league’s logo and number plates- they provided them, but to put them on cars I was making for someone else, I had to recreate them all so I could share the car when it was finished.
So yeah, there should be an option to share things ‘unlocked’.
only bad form i can tell, is turn10 have used the same old manufacture decals for ages, and hardly add new ones
even with all racing series they promote, it wouldn’t be hard to add a few like Blancpain, pirelli, dunlop (btcc)… etc
I suppose that’s one way of looking at it. Most of us who’ve been painting for years would probably admit to being paint ‘addicts’ & tbh it doesn’t matter to me if I’m repainting old logos/portraits or brand new ones… essentially I’m still just doing the same thing I enjoy most in Forza - painting
It’s my understanding that the reason that nothing from the 360 generation games can be used in the XB1 generation games is due to changes in hardware, software and architecture between the two consoles. They’re just not compatible. It’s not because of any decision that T10 made or anything they did.
