It’s true, the background mural complements the overall composition, but the road version is more vibrant and has more punch because of the focus setting.
Centering the primary subject isn’t an automatic winner, and the road version benefits from a bang-bang-bang trio of the lion eyes that make the viewer scan the entire photo from lower left up to the right, which also works with the angle of the road. Also you have great detail in the hubcap reflections, and the shadows and light on the character’s pant leg as well as in front of the car help set the objects in the scene, which is missing on the shoes in the mural version.
