Official Weekly FH5 Livery Competition - Week 090

Hi there

feel free to send me a message on reddit, I’d be happy to have a civilized chat with you and explain everything you need to know!

same to you, pls send me a DM, I’m sure we’ll be able to sort this out quickly!

You’re a good painter and I respect you, I would appreciate if you too sent me a message so we can sort this out!

a lot of your good observations come down to the bad image quality that ended up creating artefacts in the compressed version, I’d be happy to give you more insight and higher resolution pictures!

You blame the image resolution but people have downloaded your designs and it’s clear to see that the tool has been used. Not only that there are threads on Reddit where you actively ask about the use of the tool and how you think it has merit. You then go to say you wouldn’t use them in Official Forum Competition because you don’t care for them. So I’ll ask this here why did you use it and then enter onto the LivRev?

I’m offering you to explain my work process and provide you with higher quality images that should resolve the issue, it’s on you whether you wanna give me a fair chance or not

and to answer your question: I didn’t

You didn’t what use the tool? Or use the tool in a LivRev?

neither, to this day I haven’t ever used any external software.
I would be happy to discuss any further questions if you DM me and could provide high res images if required.

I would’ve appreciated if you guys had just confronted me straight away instead of conspiring in the thread. I would like to avoid the mess of the entire forum collectively throwing accusations at me and explain myself to you like an adult. Drama like this is smth you resolve in private in my opinion.
However I have nothing against eventually posting a public summary of arguments that ended up convincing people.

PS: I also have no problem with anyone publically sharing any content of private messages with me in order to provide absolute transparency

I’d be interested to know what you actually thought was going to happen here. I mean I know you know how the cheat program works and I’ve no doubt you know what kind of results it creates as I’ve seen a conversation involving you discussing it’s benefits and when you could get away with using it. Yet you seem to be acting surprised that anyone picked you up on the quality of the images in your paints.

Also ,from what I understand and correct me if I’m wrong but your claimed method of painting involves you using a software program to break down an image into easily identifiable shapes then you use another software program to then trace and lay those shapes over the image you’ve created, like a paint by numbers. Even to the point where you would put a series of squares instead of a curve because that’s what’s on the image, correct? You can hardly blame people for thinking that’s a strange way to go about things, because it is, infact it’s almost unbelievable that someone would choose to paint like that

@IG_TOWLEY_CHONG That makes sense… i started with the base for my skull too… had to get that right before i did anything else… cheekbones… etc…

I’m not blaming anyone! You’re all good as long as you behave like adults.
I have no problem explaining myself to you as long as we can have a civil discussion.
And I chose to paint that way because it makes it possible to achieve unprecedented levels of realism and seemed like the perfect solution for the very restrictive livery editor.

It makes sense for your technique, but not for mine.
My seemingly awkward workflow is easily explained by the process I use.

This is my history in this topic. Six months ago there was a topic on Reddit where no_drama_lama got accused of using the software. They where going at each other with no solution so I thought I could help as a neutral party. I asked no_drama_lama to share the vinyl which he did. I then inspected the vinyl group.

-I inspected the vinyl group to look if there where ONLY circles on there. There where a lot of other shapes on there too. Back then it was my knowledge that the Tool only made circles. So my conclusion was: All different kinds of shapes are being used so no tool use.

-For me this all hinges on the point: Can the Forza painter tool use different kind of shapes at once? I know it can use all squares or all banana’s etc. But can it use all these shapes next to each other? If you know, please show me how you know. I have been searching on youtube this afternoon, but can’t find anything.

-The video no_drama_lama isn’t a time lapse of how he made it. It’s a timelapse where he deletes layers and later reverses it. That isn’t proof of wrong doing. I’ve seen a few video’s of PTG painters also doing this to show all the layers.

-There’s a lot of good evidence here that really points to Tool usage. Thank you all for your research it really, really makes me doubt my first conclusion. But it’s not definitive proof.

I’m going to make counterpoints here because I think that belongs here too.

-https://www.reddit.com/link/raf7en/video/jrmpkaswzy381/player This is a video of the tool. You can see it staples layer upon layer OVER each other. The timelapse of Drama_lama shows all kinds of different shapes going NEXT to each other. Does anybody know if the tool has had any updates where the working of it changed? Or if there is any way of explaining this?

-In Photoshop (I used affinity Photo) you can use the posterize tool. This reduces the detail and number of colors. This could be how he made it and it would explain the computer made look.

EDIT: Since I made this post No_drama_lama sent me the website he uses to vectorize his images.
This was the result when I put the image through that.

So two main questions: Different shape usage all through the vinyl image. Can the tool do that?
Vinyl shapes next to each other instead of over each other. Can the tool do that?

So I’m basically asking for knowledge, was there a tool update that I can’t find? I think someone is innocent until proven guilty. We need definitive proof before condemning someone. And I want to be very clear. I’m not on No_Drama_lama his side. I just want to be sure. He trusts me because of that, but if I see proof on the questions I have asked I will change my view and never talk to him again or weigh in when questions asked. Until then I’m in dubio.
