Ramming and colliding with other players is bad sportsmanship, and should not be allowed. So is pushing them into walls or out of checkpoints. But, trying to avoid contact is part of the sport. Light contact happens all the time, and is generally allowed, provided that it doesn’t mess up the other player too much. And, accidents happen. Sometimes you mess up, and take other players with you. That’s part of the game. If you make a mistake, own up to it, and keep racing. Have ‘sorry’ loaded in quick chat, or use your mic if you have one. That’s what it’s for. And if the other guy messes up, give them the benefit of the doubt to a reasonable degree, and keep racing.
But
It can sometimes be difficult to determine who’s at fault. And even harder to tell if it was intentional. And harder still to get a computer to do it automatically.
And
At the end of the day, it is just a video game. If someone is deliberately being a troll, boot them from the lobby if you can, or report them to the admins. Odds are nothing will come of it, but sometimes something does. There’s no need to escalate the situation, especially out of game.
