I’ve been reading up on all the new features Horizon 3 will have and it seems to me that Playground Games have spent most of their downtime playing other peoples games and copying their ideas. As far as I can tell the only real new features will be a larger map, racing on sand and through water, customisable race routes (all already present in The Crew), wide body kits from Rocket Bunny and Liberty Walk and drift zones (both already present in Need for Speed 2015). I have no doubt in my mind that PG will do all of these things better than anybody, but that doesn’t make it alright. And don’t be fooled by the trailer either. When Turn 10 revealed Forza 5 at E3 the graphics were much better than they were on the game we all bought and if you listen to the engine noises on the trailer for Horizon 2 you’ll here sounds that you won’t here actually playing the game. I’m not saying it won’t be good, but Turn 10 are masters of making new games look and sound better than they probably will be, so I’m not expecting anything amazing.
Is it a new Forza Horizon? Yes. Will it be incredibly fun to play? Yes. Will it be better than the last one which was better than those other games you mentioned? Highly likely.
So what features were you expecting to see that were never present in ANY racing game?
A tennis court maybe? Tour de France with bicycles?
Have they made their own forza body kits? Yes. Liberty walk and Rocket Bunny is two of the most famous body kits out there. Of course it’s going to be in the game. It’s nothing new that need for speed uses it really. It’s just cause they are popular.
He wanted a cup holder.
Lol, but really I think that Forza is learning from their mistakes with previous games like how the Auction House and Storefront were removed, and how there was basically no physical customization options besides the ugly Forza Aero. They probably saw how well other games are doing with these features like the bodykits and decided that if they want to compete with the other games they would have to start implementing these features, and who says they’re copying other games it’s mostly the fans that are requesting these features to be in the game.
Well you could always make your own game couldn’t you…
Lol Need for Speed. The game with no cockpit view, 24/7 night time and like 30 cars.
Sooo… Forza Horizon 3 will have a bigger map, 350 cars at launch, a more customizable racing career (you basically run the Horizon festival), more terrain to race on, and more car customization options. And in doing this Turn 10 and Playground Games are incorporating features from other racing games… into a racing game – features which have been requested by players, in some cases, for years. In other words, they’re giving the players what they want.
But, apparently you see this as a bad thing somehow. I guess we’re going to have to agree to disagree on this, because at the mention of “bigger map + 350 cars” I was all “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!”
I’d much rather have a game that polishes on things and uses tried-and-true gameplay mechanics than try to gamble on “innovative” features in the game.
I also don’t agree that Playground is “copying” other things from other games. I can’t really explain my reasoning though, as my potential explanation might contradict my claim.
Yeah, if they were “copying” something like Need for Speed in the Horizon games, the story wouldn’t be “average nobody comes to car festival, races, becomes Horizon Champion, buys a JayLenoGarage worth of cars along the way,” it would be along the lines of “retired street racer comes out of retirement to avenge the death of his goldfish,” (complete with live-action cut scene of our hero standing out in the rain, screaming “NOOOO!!! NOT FISHY!!! WHY?!?!?!?”) or something like that
2 Fast 2 Fishy, coming 2015!
They really haven’t dived into the meat and potatoes yet. For Horizon 2 they held back other features until almost release. They haven’t said anything since e3 and that was the reveal. Considering there’s already a gigantic map, hundreds of races without creating your own plus bucket lists you can make, 350 cars, new customization’s 4 player co-op for an entire campaign, new multiplayer modes, drift zones, jump zones, more barn finds, more music, create your own station, auction house, store front for everything. This is just what we know… ya they did nothing
Obviously there is nothing new, there’s only the same old stuff from previous Forza games like making your own track, controlling a entire festival, whole new classes of off road vehicles, many new to Forza cars, three-wheelers, driving in water and off cliffs, and being a full PC game as well.
Can’t possibly see any new features here.
Game, set, match.
