I have no red dots on the map anymore which would indicate the positions of the discount signs you are supposed to smash. I have collected 85 of these signs and wonder whether the dots for the remaining ones will magically appear on the map one day or how else I’m supposed to find them.

Have you used the map filter to remove everything else from the map…like races, outposts etc. and leave just discount signs? Some are next to the icons for other events making them tricky to find.
some of them don’t show up as dots, you have to actually search for them. Kindatricky I know. I realized this when I accidently came across a sign and it did not show up on my map at all, but others did.
I’m sure the OP has long since turned to other methods to find the remaining discount signs or given up, but for anyone else with the same question who may come here searching for the answer - they will only show up as red dots if you have been in close proximity to them. That’s why most appear in the course of normal driving. The few that are far enough from the road or truly off the beaten path will have to be searched for, so by the time you’d see the red dot, you’ll probably already have found the sign. Look for small dirt roads on the map that aren’t marked in bold lines & any large open areas.
