Who on earth decides to remove the “Restart race” option?
Must have been coded on a Friday night just before someone’s holiday, that’s the stupidest thing I have seen

Just End Race and start again. That’s works really quick.

I very much agree with this complaint. Googling the same problem brought me here. First time Ive signed into this forum to put my two cents in.
This problem IMO makes this game nearly unplayable. I like many of us have 0 interest in rewind, which I consider cheating (although I have no problem with it being in the game as it dirties your lap times), and restart from pause menu constantly on racing games. I see no good reason for this oversight. Why have it in every previous iteration and not this one. MS and turn 10 should know better than to take features away; you’re guaranteed to upset at least part of your consumer base.

You have to press quit race then it brings you back to pre-race screen and start again.
It is virtually the same as previous games, as the restart button would take you back to the pre-race screen as well.

I thought it an odd omission too, though the work around is only mildly inconvenient. I’d mark this down under the minor sin column for Turn10

I did find a restart button, but not in the pause menu. If you complete a race there is a restart button in the same menu as view replay. Its not what Im looking for but it eased my pain a little somehow.
Everybody wants a simulation game and complains when they take the arcadey features out. Wasn’t aware you can restart or rewind in real life. Not being able to just restart gives you more incentive to be better.

I believe the game makes you go thru any sort of rewards if you complete a race and wish to restart, so there is no immediate restart. If you wish to restart during a race, then as others stated, you need to select Quit Race and then you should be taken to the pre-start like before.
