NO Custom Music Station?

FH 4 have one of the worst soundtracks i even heard in any game genre.

Timeless channel is fine, but the others doesen’t have any variety. It’s like you hear the same song over and over again.
And there is no radio channel with adrenaline kicking music which is a must in a game with radio channels.

Grand Theft Auto 4 is the only game ever which had music for several music tastes, and not just 2… Classic and hip hop.

Google Music/Spotify integration in FH 4 would solve the music problem.

Anyway. Turn off the music and use only car engine sounds instead.

I would also like to be able to listen to streams of local radio stations

What is needed is an audio Mixer (system-level app) that would allow you to chose audio sources as streams to add into any application or game. MUCH more functional and would allow for all kinds of integration for future apps. If you needed to change channels/streams or levels/mix you could hit the big X on the controller and do that there. Not even that hard to program this in. Just lazy developers or lack of imagination.

You can do this if you are a Spotify user on Xbox. There’s a mixer built-in to the OS UI when you hit the X on the Xbox controller. You need to start both Spotify and FH4.

Curious why you bumped a 5 months old thread to suggest something the Xbox already has? Use any background audio capable app, (spotify, kodi, vlc, plex etc) play your music. Start your game. got to your music app in the xbox side bar. you can control the audio level of the music separately from the game, just be sure to turn off the in-game music.

There’s another way to get car audio and your own music in the game if you listen through a headset.

You just need to have any music device with a mic out 3.5mm jack, a Y-splitter (headphones and microphone), and a plain 3.5mm cord.

Just plug the Y-splitter to your controller, in the headphone slot of the splitter plug in your headset. Then attach one end of your plain 3.5mm cord to the mic slot of the splitter and stick the other end in your music player. Your voice chat becomes your music, if nothing is playing open an xbox party and turn on mic monitoring. If the quality is bad just re-sync your controller to your Xbox.

Works well if you have a bunch of AIFF and WAV or other large audio files, then you can also play anything if you connect to a computer.

I found Spotify working fine with Xbox One X by setting Streamer Mode on which silences other music in game.

That said, what happened with Groove music (Which was Microsoft service they decided to discontinue) can happen with any other service too including Spotify. That’s why I think feature to play music from hard drive would be preferable.

I’m fussy about the festival.

I wish it could have spotify in forza horizon 4

You know what’s my favorite radio station? My “Liked Songs” playlist!

Spotify is easily the most progressive streaming company that likes collaborating with other brands. Xbox already has a Spotify app so, similar to Groove Music in FH3, linking your Spotify account with upcoming Forza titles can be straightforward. No need for complete features, just an in-game radio station that randomly streams your “Liked Songs” playlist. That’s it. Simple!

On Xbox you can use Spotify while playing Horizon, it’s not directly through the game like you wish for but you could still listen to your favorite playlist while playing. Just turn on streamer mode in game so it won’t play any in-game music.

Yup, the Spotify app integrates with the Xbox One’s “Guide” menu. If only you could turn off ALL music in the game though…

Like what streamer mode does

Anyway Background Player is better than Spotify, because you can play your own music on USB as a background to FH4.

No reason this shouldn’t be added in. Code could literally be almost completely 100% copy and pasted.

oh really

it’s that simple is it

are you an expert on coding now

We all want this, the Forza Horizon 4 soundtrack is decent at best and lackluster at worst. Since the release, players have been begging for the return of custom soundtracks that were in Horizon 3. Unfortunately, the program it was based on, Groove, was retired and the feature not only didn’t make it into Horizon 4, it was removed from Horizon 3 entirely.

The answer to custom soundtracks is ridiculously simple: Spotify.

Spotify already has good relations with Forza Horizon and Microsoft in general. Buying the ultimate edition for Forza Horizon 4 gave you a year’s subscription for Spotify Premium. Spotify is the perfect contender to collaborate with Forza Horizon. Here’s how it could be implemented. You’d have to own Spotify Premium to use custom soundtracks. That sounds like it sucks, but it would give Spotify some benefits to collaborating with Playground Games. Other games like Dangerous Driving have already done this. As annoying as that sounds, it makes sense from a business perspective. It also means the main soundtrack wouldn’t get ignored or shoved to the side. Once you buy premium, you could link your Spotify account to your Microsoft account. You then could select any playlist as your “Forza Horizon” soundtrack, which could be changed at any time. In-game, Spotify would have its own radio station, and the music in the playlist you selected would play. You could maybe get a free Spotify shirt for your character to make the purchase more enticing. When playing, the music could be treated as if it were in the game by default. The music would stop when the game is paused, fade out when doing PR stunts, and get a reverb effect when pulling up to the festival, giving the illusion of a live performance. Horizon 3 did this well.

While it isn’t implemented yet, the devs said this feature might be re-implemented if it was shown enough support. I see everybody asking for this back and we all need it really badly. My brain’s gonna melt if i hear “don’t ya don’t ya don’t ya know that it’s commmmmiiiiinnnnggg, that it’s commmmiiiinnnnngggg…” one more time.

Yes! THIS is exactly what I wanted all along! It’s NOT too hard, Playground! If Dangerous Driving can do it, then so can you! The normal soundtrack isn’t that great, and the songs keep repeating during events and drone mode! I HATED IT! It happened in Horizon 3, as well. Not cool…

Just switch on streamer mode and download either Spotify or the Soundcloud on XBOX. I have Soundcloud on my X1S and I have no issues. Licensing and copyright will always be an issue, thus installing the apps from creators whom own the rights to stream the song on their portals would be the better pick.

truth question / no attack but “the devs said”, what are you referring to ? you have a link to share ?
you can put the streamer mode on to get rid off the "don’t you… " thing, sadly, it needs to be enable every launch … ok, boring, but at least you can.
personally using deezer, with a correct mixing set between game sound and music sound, result is acceptable.
Like you, I miss the custom radio of groove. Nevertheless I’d like the game team to focus first on the game itself. Regardless to cars and driving, all that is menus is done 60% at most causing so useless activities and time loss for players. I hope next episode will bring some good news.
