Gears of War 4 Racing Suit
“This suit will be sent to anyone who has played Gears of War 4 on Xbox One or Windows 10 before October 31, 2017. Eligible players will receive a code to download the suit via an Xbox Live Message on Xbox or Windows beginning on November 20. It may take up to two weeks to receive your code. Haven’t played Gears 4 yet? Fear not! You can jump in via the Free Trial and play before December 31, 2017 to become eligible to receive a code for the Gears Driver Gear suit which will be sent beginning in mid-January.”

JD and Kait Driver Gear / new Rivals events
“Set a time in an event before the eligibility window closes on Sunday, November 26 at midnight Pacific and we’ll send you that event’s corresponding suit.” (Featured Rivals: “Pushing It To the Limit”, Track Day Rivals: “Major Micro Track Days”) “Note that players will not receive these suits immediately after setting a time. November Bounty Hunter Update
“As of this writing, Dan’s time is a 1:39.186. This Bounty Hunter closes on November 26 at midnight Pacific, which means there’s plenty of time for you to set your best time. Keep in mind that everyone who sets a lap (fast or slow, clean or dirty!) will be receiving the 2010 Audi TT RS Coupe after the event is closed. Earlier in the week we dropped our first Bounty Hunter Reward Car poll, allowing players to vote for the exclusive reward car for this event. After thousands of votes, the results are in: Players who beat Dan’s final posted time will win the 2016 W Motors Lykan HyperSport. It was a close race in the end, with the Ferrari Scaglietti and the Lykan running neck and neck the entire time. So close, in fact, that we’ve decided to also offer the Scaglietti to folks as a secondary reward. All players who score a clean lap under 1:40.000 will also be sent the Scaglietti once the event has closed. That’s a chance to win THREE amazing exclusive cars in one event! Mods Update
“Since the launch of Forza Motorsport 7, we’ve been paying close attention to how the community is playing the game. One of our areas of focus has been how players use Mods in the game. In particular, we’ve looked at which Dare Mods players keep and use and which they sell back. We’ve also been looking at which assist settings different groups of players prefer in the game. Today we replaced existing Basic and Advanced Mod with a less expensive difficulty-based group. This gives players the ability to better select the kinds of Mods they want based on their skill level, while at the same time getting rid of cards that were unpopular in the community – cards like “Perfect Pass” and “Perfect Drift.” Check it out.”

Gears of War Driver Gear Update
“An important update for all three of these suits: Codes for the Gears of War 4 suit will not be going out this week as originally planned. Instead, codes will begin going out to eligible players via Xbox Live in early December. Players who miss the October 31 cutoff date for the Gears 4 suit will still be able to play Gears 4 before December 31, 2017 and receive the Driver Gear suit via a code drop in January. In addition, the JD and Kait suits will be sent to eligible players beginning in early December as well. We’ve also extended the eligibility period to set a time in the respective Rivals events to December 5”

New #Forzathon Events

Tomorrow on the #TuesdayDrive I am going to show off a few cars and tunes that members of the community have made for me. For one, NendoShisu made this awesome re-done Martini livery that will get a test in our drift session.

Then we will try out the tune CWheelz24 made for my Ford Thunderbolt. I’m hoping it can turn this all-out drag racer into a retro-road racer. We will see, since this thing was a three-wheeling beast in out last race and topped out at 140 mph in third gear. I hope to see you on Mixer and Twitch at 1 p.m. Pacific.

Forza Motorsport 7 -- Doritos Car Pack

In addition to introducing Leagues, Tuesday’s update for Forza Motorsport 7 also brings with it numerous fixes and improvements to the game, including the ability for players to lengthen race lengths up to 1000 laps (circuit races) or 24 hours (timed races) for any type of race in the game. We’ve also added new accessibility features that make it possible for more people to enjoy playing the game. Speech to text allows a player who cannot hear the ability to see the conversation. When other players in the game talk, the conversation is written as text to their screen. Text to speech allows players who are non-verbal or who prefer not to speak the ability to have their text messages synthesized into audio for all players will hear.

Tuesday’s update also introduces the cars of the Doritos Car Pack to the game (more on that below). The full list of changes coming to Forza Motorsport 7 is posted to our Release Notes thread on the Forza forums.

Today’s update for Forza Motorsport 7 includes numerous improvements to the game on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. This update also introduces Leagues to the game. For more on Leagues, see our description in last Friday’s edition of the Week in Review. We’ve also added new features including the ability for players to dramatically increase race length (up to 1,000 laps for a circuit race and up to 24 hours for a timed race) in any race, including Forza Driver’s Cup events, Free Play, and Private Multiplayer races.

The following is a list of additional improvements introduced to the game with this update. In addition to the improvements listed below, this update also minor UI and behind-the-scenes improvements that are not listed here.

GENERAL

• Fixed an issue where game would crash in Split Screen when Player 2 disconnects, and Player 1 reconnects on a Guest profile.
• Fixed an issue where, after some players finished a race without touching the gas, their XP would be reset to zero.
• Updated messaging for Super Easy mode. Note that events run with Super Easy assists will require steering input in order to earn XP and credits at the end of the race.
• Fixed an issue where event results quickly disappeared after completing a Drag or Timed Race game type.
• Updated the “Split Time” box in a race to orange from blue.
• Updated the “Buy Car” and “Rent Car” icons in the game.
• Removed lap count information in “Vote For Next Track” screen.
• Credit prices for Prize Crates that are unaffordable to the player will now appear as orange in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
• Fixed an issue where players could earn the “Unrivaled” achievement even when using assists.
• Fixed an issue where players were participating in the incorrect class in the “GT Racing Reborn” Moments in Motorsport event.
• Adjusted lap count of VIR race in the Off Road Buggies series in the Forza Driver’s Cup to be more consistent with other races in series.
• Fixed an issue where the incorrect flag was appearing on the Mugello Driver Gear helmet.

FREE PLAY

• Fixed an issue where, when driving with the (P-Class) Hoonicorn, players would race against Drivatar opponents of mixed classes.
• Fixed an issue where, when players change car in the Free Play menu, the resulting car would appear with an incorrect livery and/or paint job.
• Fixed an issue where team icons on the mini-map were all the same color in Free Play.
• Players will now use consumable mods if they quit during the last lap of a Free Play race.
• Fixed an issue where players in one car class cannot see the leaderboard entries for their car’s division in the Free Play leaderboards, should other classes exist in the same division.

RIVALS

• Fixed an issue where loading a valid tune in pre-race would sometimes result in a message informing the player that the tune was illegal.

MULTIPLAYER

• Added support for a new platform feature that allows players to convert multiplayer chat to text. Players must have “Speech to Text”, “Text to Speech” or Both options turned on in Xbox Accessibility settings.
• Fixed an issue where losing network connection during a race sometimes caused a softlock upon the next connection attempt.
• Players now have the option to unmute individual players in a lobby.
• Private multiplayer hosts can n ow cancel launch of lobby during “car theater” screen.

DRIVATAR

• Fixed an issue where Drivatars in the 2017 Renault R.S.17 car would consistently leave the track on Maple Valley.
• Corrected Drivatar difficulty on Silverstone National and International circuits.
• Adjusted Drivatar difficulty for Timed and Circuit Race game types.

AUCTION HOUSE

• Updated messaging on Auction House to explain that the Auction House takes a small amount of proceeds from completed auctions, which scales based on how much the vehicle was sold for.
• Fixed an issue where a player could not see auctions of the same car the player was currently in.
• Fixed an issue where Auction details show stock PI/stats for a car listed, instead of current PI/stats.
• Search options are now saved within an Auction House session.

CARS

• Fixed an issue where the 2002 Nissan GTR Skyline V-Spec II rear wing does not always animate with the trunk.

PC

• Fixed an issue with connected storage API when checking for available space, improving save space for photos, liveries, and more up to hard save caps.

FORZATHON

• Added post-race Forzathon rewards screen after completing an entire Forzathon event.
• Fixed an issue where toast notification was noticeably delayed after completing a Forzathon-eligible race event.
• Fixed an issue where reward voiceover will not play on a consistent basis.
• Added help text for the Forzathon events page.
• Players claiming Forzathon rewards in multiplayer will now be set to “Not Ready” in the lobby.
• Fixed an issue where the Forzathon menu option from the Pause Menu is grayed out, but accessible everywhere else in the game.
• Fixed an issue where player encounters an empty reward screen after completing second challenge of “Speed is Key” event.
• Fixed an issue where Tier Level Up screen appears in cases where Forzathon reward is a car and player moves to a new Car Collector Tier.
• Fixed an issue with the “Going the Distance” Forzathon event, where some users were not progressing after completing a Sport Touring Division Autocross event.

TRACKS

• Fixed an issue with some curbs at Sebring which caused certain cars to react unrealistically.
• Fixed an issue at Rio track which was incorrectly dirtying players’ lap times.
• Fixed an issue at Rio where players would hit invisible wall at exit of final turn.
• Fixed an issue at Lime Rock where vehicles with low chin spoilers could collide with the ground and cause spins).
• Fixed an issue where Drivatar opponents rarely or never pit when damage is set to “Fuel and Tires”

FORZA HUB

• Corrected an issue where Forza Rewards scores were either not updating or updating incorrectly across numerous legacy Forza games.

LIVERY EDITOR

• Fixed an issue where left thumb stick press down functionality was removed in “Create Vinyl Group.”
• Improved “Recommended Vinyl Groups” and “Search” functionality.
• Fixed an issue where only the first 10 results would return in the Vinyl search feature.
• Fixed an issue where flashing layer highlight was hard to see in certain situations.

Xbox Takes Home Honors at The Game Awards

The Game Awards is designed to recognize the creative and technical excellence in the video game industry, bringing together a diverse group of players, developers, and culture to celebrate gaming as the most immersive and inspiring form of entertainment.

Tonight’s show was full of new reveals, awards, and recognition. We got our first look at the next game from Campo Santo, creators of Firewatch, revealing the exploration adventure In the Valley of Gods, as well as the debut footage of Soul Calibur VI. Finally, legendary game developer Carol Saw was given the Industry Icon Award for her contributions to the history of games.
A number of great games that you can play on Xbox One also took home awards, like Best Action Game Wolfenstein II and Best Narrative winner What Remains of Edith Finch.

The evening also included new looks at previously announced games coming to Xbox One like Metro Exodus, a fresh trailer from console exclusive PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and a release date for Sea of Thieves, coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 as an Xbox Play Anywhere title on March 20, 2018.

LEAGUES & UPCOMING CONTENT UPDATE

We’ve been paying close attention to player movement across Bands and Ranks and we will continue to tune League events and scoring to ensure that League players are set in their “correct” Bands as soon as possible.

Related, we’re aware of issues that players are running into involving disconnects in Leagues. Some players are having issues successfully getting into races, and those that are disconnected, are losing League points as a result. We are aware of the issue and believe we have identified the cause; a fix for which is being prepared for our next update which we are hoping to release next week.

DEC. 5 CONTENT UPDATE

EXCLUSIVE CARS

Exclusive cars do not appear in Forza Motorsport 7 Prize Crates. We want to players to experience this amazing lineup of exclusive cars by playing Forza and participating in the community.

DORITOS CAR PACK RELEASED

DECEMBER BOUNTY HUNTER - PHIL SPENCER

We’re extremely pleased to announce that Xbox’s own Phil Spencer (Gamertag: P3) will be the player to beat in our December Bounty Hunter event, which begins on Monday, December 11.

Not only are we over the moon to have Phil as our Bounty target this month, we’ve got a fantastic car for folks to experience this time around in the 2017 Porsche #92 Porsche GT Team 911 RSR on Hockenheim National Circuit. This exclusive car was added to the game with this week’s update and features 500+ horsepower worth of rear-wheel-drive racing madness. Players will be using this track weapon on one of Germany’s most beloved circuits: Hockenheim National.

On Tuesday of next week we’ll be posting a poll on the Forza Motorsport Twitter account where followers can choose which car they’d like to see as the December Bounty Hunter Reward car. We’ll post the results of the poll in next Friday’s edition of the Week in Review. In addition to the exclusive Reward car, EVERYONE who sets a time in this event will be sent the 2017 Porsche #92 Porsche GT Team 911 RSR once the event closes on January 3, 2018. Look for Phil to set his initial time after the event opens on Monday and good luck to everyone who participates.

HALO SUITS

To get this amazing Halo Driver Gear, all you need to do is have played Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and/or Halo Wars 2 before November 31, 2017. We’ll be sending out codes beginning later this month and code distribution will run through January of next year. If you haven’t played one of these Halo games yet, log on before December 31 of this year to make sure you’re included in the final code distribution. Eligible players will receive codes for the Halo Driver Gear suit via an Xbox Live Message, so make sure to check your messages.

To get both the Master Chief and the Olympia Vale Driver Gear suits, all you need to do is participate in any of the following Rivals events in Forza Motorsport 7 before January 3, 2018:

“Welcome to our final edition of the Forza Week in Review for 2017.”

SPECTATE AND FORZA RACING CHAMPIONSHIP

Our goal is to make Forza Motorsport 7 the ultimate playground for car lovers, and a fantastic place for players of all skill levels to compete. Leagues are just the start of that. In early 2018, the Forza Racing Championship will return, supported by brand new esports, online racing, and spectating features in the game that have been designed competitive play to the next level. Look for more details about the return of the ForzaRC in the coming weeks.

LATEST FORZA 7 UPDATE

In addition, in combination with a recent Xbox platform change, this week’s update addressed the issue where a small number of players lost save game progress in either Forza Motorsport 7 or Forza Horizon 3. We believe this fix will prevent players from running into these game save deletion issues in the future. We will be gifting affected players who reported this issue to us via forzafb@microsoft.com game credits, cars and Driver Gear.

Finally this week, we bid a fond farewell to Robin aka Little Vixen, who is leaving the Forza Community Team this week. Beyond being a Turn 10 team member has been a member of the Forza community for many years – long-time community members might remember reading about her here on FM.net in stories as early as 2008. Eventually Robin made her way on to the Community Team and made countless contributions to the team and to Forza with her professionalism, gentle disposition, and boundless creativity. We’ll miss her here on the Community Team and thank her for everything she’s done for Forza over the years.

In addition to a suit with the Halo logo, we have two character-based suits available – one for inspired by Master Chief, and the other featuring the armor of Fireteam Osiris’ Olympia Vale. In fact, those latter suits are still available as of this writing – just set a time in any one of a handful of Rivals events (listed here).

Of course, the big news for the final month of 2017 was Leagues in Forza 7. Launched just a few weeks ago, we’re still in the inaugural season of our new competitive feature in the game. If you’ve spent some time in Leagues so far, you’ve seen just a small portion of the variety and fun that the feature can offer. In our first season, we’ve moved from strictly Ghost events to a mix of Ghost and Sim events. Future seasons will see even more variety – and remember, there’s always something great to win just for taking part!

December also saw our biggest and best Bounty Hunter Rivals event, along with a brand-new bounty target. Phil Spencer (GT: XboxP3) is the star of this month’s BH event and he’s been giving the Forza community a run for their money. As always, players who beat Phil’s final time once the event is closed will receive a special exclusive reward car voted on by the Forza community! Even better, everyone who sets a time in the event will receive an amazing reward car – the 2017 Porsche #92 Porsche GT Team 911 RSR. In fact, there’s still time for you to get the car! All you need to do is set a time in the December Bounty Hunter event (found in the Featured Events channel of Rivals) and you’ll receive the car after the event is closed on January 3. That’s an amazing race car for very little effort, so what are you waiting for?

So as you can see, 2017 has been a big one for Forza and 2018 is going to be even better. The Forza Racing Championship will return in 2018 and we’ll have more news and fun to come. Don’t forget to tune into our annual New Year’s Eve livestream on December 31, beginning at 9 p.m. on Mixer and Twitch. We’ll be playing Forza 7 and have a special giveaway for viewers on Mixer. What’s been your 2017 Xbox highlight?
My 2017 highlight would be launching Forza Motorsport 7 on Xbox One and PC in October, and then shipping the game again on Xbox One X in November. This game is a labor of love for the team and seeing the feedback from the community has been incredible.

What’s one thing you won’t forget about 2017?
I’ll never forget when we announced the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS on stage at E3 in June. For the first time in history, a car was revealed alongside a game announce. Working with Porsche has been a dream come true, and they were integral to helping us deliver a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

What are you looking forward to in 2018?
I cannot wait for fans to see what we have in store – 2018 is going to be a huge year for the Forza community. We have some spectacular announcements and new experiences coming up. I’m excited for those announcements and Red Dead Redemption 2; everyone should be looking forward to that game.
