So i turned on my xbox today to play some forza 6 and it said i needed an update. i selected update now and left to go to work. I just got home and it still says updating but no percentage meter has started it just says updating. i tried restarting the console and made sure i have a good internet connection…still not updating. i just invested about $1,200 into a wheel, seat, upgraded pedals and a shifter and now i cant use them…PLEASE HELP!

You restarted the console, or did a complete hard reset?
Try doing a full system reset (hard boot) as below:
1 – from the Dashboard, out of all games, hold the X button on the front of the console down until it shuts the system down.
2 – Disconnect the external power from the wall plug (or at least disconnect the wall-side connector on the power pack itself.
3 – WAIT until all power drains from the external power pack (no light, either white or dull orange showing on the pack).
4 – Reconnect the power supply to the electrical outlet.
5 – Restart the console in the usual manner, i.e., either with the controller or a short push on the X button on the front of the X1.
6 – WAIT until the console self-checks and fully boots to the Dashboard before attempting anything.
If you don’t disconnect the external power pack and let the power completely drain out, the system is still retaining “old” stuff and not resetting.

Not in the NXOE are you,thats one of the known problems.
The latest NXOE fixed this situation, as far as I know. Besides, the original work-around for that problem was simply doing a hard reset of the system. My update can down fine and installed properly on the latest beta build this morning.
That said, there may be other issues, such as the use of an external hard drive, which has been popping up. But if someone is not in the beta, they wouldn’t see these problems which are beta-related.
Sorry Snowowl,when I read yesterday on the x box forums on the latest build,updating FM6 and some other game were one of the problems,can’t keep up with these updates anymore since they are coming so fast!!
No kidding. What is it three new builds in five days or four in six? It is crazy.

I believe this is a known issue either with certain games or the system software. If it doesn’t start after a min or so, all you need to do is pause it, wait a few seconds and resume. Guaranteed to work every time.
