How does that work? I dont see my DSR resolutions at all. The game offers me 1440p and 4k despite using a 1080p TV, but I dont think those come from the Nvidia DSR settings (plus, they cause instant stuttering for me, always did).
However, using the ingame resolution scaling does the same thing and works well for me.
Still, the performance degenerating after a few races has nothing to do with settings, its just the game acting up / a bug / a memory leak. Sure, we can most likely reduce the settings far enough to power through it, but theres still something broken that needs urgent fixing from Turn10.
Welcome to PC, where nothing works and no one cares.* Its crazy how they throw us out the window after launch, like we bought the Ultimate and Deluxe editions, but you don’t bat an eye when we can’t even play? Its sad, really, that’s all it is.
Early afternoon, back from work. Want to play some good 'ole Forza. There’s no Xbox, so off to PC. Gets on, gets the Eurobeat playlist ready to go when a race starts. Loads up FM7. Starts to load a race, works on upgrading and tuning the car while track loads. In the middle of tuning, game crashes. Works fineWorks perfectlyAll is wellWorth my moneyHaHaPlays Assetto Corsa instead
*Everything, but this game works, so ha ha. And everyone cares when something breaks
Randomly after a few races you a get a race that have massive FPS drops. If i exit the race and reload the track the games runs perfectly. I removed all the dynamic settings and it is true i observed an improvment and was just about to post here happy, but just a few moments ago I tried a private match and in the first race the game started stuttering without any reason… I exited the match and soon the game crashed for my friend as-well
Forza 7 is another one of those classic games where the developers have to stretch the hardware beyond it’s capability instead of going for speed.
It’s crashing all the time because it’s struggling to do what it’s being asked to do.
Let’s take a good example:
On XBOX One, you go to your garage and all you want to do is quickly scroll through your cars or find a car using the tabs.
Only, there’s a massive pause and it’s all sluggish and crappy because EVERY time you press a button, the system is instantly trying to load a new 3D scrolling car regardless
of whether it’s the one you actually want to look at. I’m sure for the DEVs on their suped-up computers it was all fast and amazing but the reality is, it’s slows down user experience
and makes it all clunky. Too much flash and dazzle and not enough common sense.
How about this…
Just let us browse the damned gallery in 2D with simply 2D pictures and IF we want to see it in 3D let us click a button and BHAM! it’s loading in 3D.
That way, WE can browse quickly around the menus and get to where we need to go fast, without all the flash and dazzle slowing us down.
Something else…
In multiplayer lobby, what’s the need to have all that 3D background stuff going on with the garage and people and cars moving around? Just don’t bother with it.
Just show us our driver and our car on a plain simple 2D background - we want to quickly browse our competition and see their cars and stats, not have a huge delay each time because
the system is loading a crap load of things we don’t care about.
This always happens.
Hardware gets better, so the designers have to stretch it to its limit and we NEVER actually have a quick menu to browse regardless of how much
we spend on hardware trying to improve our experience.
Just tone it all down a bit.
The game is beautiful to drive around in but the menu system is aweful and overdone and clunky.
Please update it all and cut back on the effects and the dynamic real-time loading.
Thanks
I would actually like to get back the spectate mode, because whenever i join a multiplayer server i always join when the race just started or in the middle of the progress.
then when the waiting time is over, and the next race is about to launch, the gam tend to crash.
so, in order to compensate with that crash it would have been ok to see some in game races and made that wait time feel less valueless
Having the same issue, game previously ran fine, did the update patch and it wouldn’t start, updated windows and it now runs but only at about 35FPS on a 1070.
Also have the bug where it won’t register key presses, seems like there’s a huge lag.
haven’t had a play with any settings yet, I’ll try that when I have more patience.
Managed to fix most of my issues. I run the game off my laptop to a 1080p TV, so Ifigured it was no use running a higher resolution on the laptop if the TV couldn’t do it so I had turned the laptop down to 1080p. tried turning it back to 4k last night and bam, problems solved! Running stable again, loads quicker for some reason and FPS back to normal. The view in the rear vision mirror is pretty stuttery but I don’t really take much notice of it. No idea why running it at the higher resolution seems to make it perform better.
I’m at a loss with whats going on. I only change the resolution from 1080 to 4K, everything else I leave on dynamic.
Started it up last night and back to stuttery crap, long pauses and crashes (this was at the 4K resolution). Tried to run the FPS benchmark, got below 10FPS, tried a repeat and it crashed. Gave up at that point and walked away. About an hour or two later I thought I’d try again, start game put resolution to 1080 and run the test, 35FPS. Change to 4K and i get an average of 50FPS and all of a sudden it’s running brilliantly again. I’m wondering is it possible to be network related? Generally early in the night my network is pretty congested (kids downloading etc), it almost seems like once all that stops it runs good…either that or it’s just got lots of totally random bugs!
Also last night the message screen says I have 4 messages, but when I go into it there are none and the forzathon for the space suit won’t go past 2 out of 3 autocrosses, I did 6 last night.
This is Microsoft’s fault not Turn10’s. I have the same issue like countless other users and it happens on all games not just this one. Windows 10 FCU update messed up a a lot of things but most terrible one is this issue. Like you said it is completely ridiculous. Performance comes and goes randomly. Only solution for now is to rollback to a previous Windows version.
I am pretty sure that the problem preventing me from even starting the game (again it allows me randomly) is also caused by FCU hence Microsoft’s fault.
At this point, I think Turn10 hates Microsoft more than us because they are taking the blame here (naturally) even though it is not their fault.
The FCU messed up a lot of stuff, but the issue discussed here is something else.
I had the FCU, it messed up using duplicate screens, so I rolled back just a day later.
On a sidenote, rolling back forced Forza 7 to redownload from scratch, wonderful store/games design by MS indeed.
Anyway, the performace break-downs described on this thread happen on Windows 10 / 1703 for me.
No stutters here seems to run fine for me, if anything i may get the odd jerk for a split second once in a blue moon but nothing worse mentioning to be honest as 99.9% of the time it’s fine…
Mate, if 970’s are getting bad stuttering and 2x 980’s then clearly the game sucks with SLI and the 970’s… the game may not be perfect but im not having this stuttering problem with my single 1070, unless its something else causing the stuttering for you i just assume its that, thats the culprit… chill…
My point is you saying “My game is fine - it must be your hardware” in no way helps anyone, your post is totally useless, you clearly have no PC experience and did not read the thread…
