New Monthly Hopper coming today at 4:00 pm (pst)

I’ve run many multi-class races in my private lobbies, here’s some of the things I’ve learned:

  • Set the race timer to only be able to be triggered by the slowest class. This makes it so the fast cars don’t DNF everyone. It can be at 45 seconds like a normal lobby but only triggered by C class.

  • The excitement of multi-class is about going through the packs of different cars. The faster cars in the back, slower in the front. Taking note of the average top 10 time distance between C-B-A-S class and spacing them out accordingly or a second or two closer via roll off delay can make the racing very exciting and clean since the fast cars generally aren’t going through meat of fields as they come up on the other classes. If you’re going to do this, take note of the end race timer and maybe adjust it to be longer if you’re aiming for everyone to finish at a similar time.

  • There will always be accidents from two people in different classes, there’s no way to avoid that. That comes down to driver skill and awareness. Unfortunately, that’s just how online lobbies are so there’s nothing you can do about it.

Nothing too crazy but hopefully this helps with general fun for the lobby.

That too is most important.

What if there’s only one player left in C class and he figures he’d get a kick outa just sitting there?

Might be better to do something like finding the average laptime difference between C and S, then adding that onto the standard end race timer.

Triton is the PERFECT EXAMPLE of the type of feedback the fans have been wanting from Turn 10… GREAT JOB & MUCH THANKS!

Tried this earlier but could not seem toget a tuned car to start, every time I chose a car it said it wasnt legal. Its probably me not looking properly though

Also it would be good IMHO to have the cars about you listed by distance, not justyour class but all of them,to try & avoid collisions,by knowing hwen someone is close.

What a pleasant day of driving. I ran 4 races (managed to be in all different classes) and had some proper good battles. The best part was, on multiple occasions, I had guys in C Class move offline when they saw my friends and I coming through in S and A class cars. It seems that everybody involved is putting in effort to make this mode great and I see a lot of potential.

Yeah some players were self-aware enough to get out of the way when I caught them, but too many were not or refused to. I think overall it really depends in what class the idiots land in with every shuffle. I was with a good group of C class racers tonight and we were able to stay in the lead until the end on most tracks even Monza because the people who have trouble in traffic met the same troubles they have in hoppers and leagues.

Some of the more aggressive drivers in A or S that would catch up with the C class, would just plow through us while we were battling for position and because they came up on us so fast we had no idea also because they don’t show up on the distance meter.

I will say this, it is nice starting out as a ghost in A and S class because you’re idle so long

S-Class is so fun starting in the back!

No disrespects Triton but now it has been made abundantly clear that the race conditions of hoppers can be tweaked in an instant, how is it that, despite all the countless comments outlining this issue, the lap count of the lower class races still remains unchanged within their respective hoppers? It’s cool that a new hopper is being altered in line with feedback but also a little disheartening that ongoing problems with current hoppers still seem unimportant - with T10 seemingly happy for C and D class to be promoted as a one/two lap barge fest… Some people actually prefer the bumper to bumper racing of slower cars but due to the restrictive structure of their preferred hoppers they are not being allowed to enjoy their moment in any way, shape or form… The casual racers have all but disappeared now so how about expanding on those tweaks ?

I spent 1-2 hours in the ABCS lobby, it was an interesting tweak, here are my thoughts :

  1. It’s fun to actually see some gameplay elements of this game evolve rather than having hordes of DLC car packs for a static game. Turn 10 should really continue the path of improving upon Forza 6 instead of letting it die and assume that everyone will happily dish out money again in 1,5 year for FM7.

  2. I liked the vote for map but I never played hoppers before, only leagues. Please add this vote for map to leagues as well!

  3. You have like 45 seconds I think between seeing what your next class is and selecting a car, it’s a bit short IMO.

  4. 4 different classes is too much, IMO drop C-class from it and see how that goes, The reason it’s too much is because most of the time there are like 16-20 players racing in a game even if the game starts at 20-22 people. So while I like the multiclass aspect a lot, within my own class there are only about 4 people racing. I had ONE game where we were racing with 5 within our class, a few with 2 or 3 and the vast majority was with 4 people. That is a bit scarce IMO.

  5. Some high class idiots who run by you happily use you as their brakes because they know you have the slower car and can’t catch up with them anymore. I think it’s the new way to grief. Not much Turn 10 can do about that IMO, it’s the behaviour of the community.

  6. I’d love to see this with sim damage on.

  7. Triton can you please check your PMs? I sent you a message 8 days ago and you didn’t respond yet.

  8. This is a tip to other players : YOU ARE NOT RACING EVERYONE! You are racing against the other players within your class. If you are uncertain if the car before or behind you is of the same class then check the distance meter! If you are e.g. number 3 and number 4 if 500 meters behind you, THEN YOU KNOW THE CAR RIGHT BEHIND YOU is not him and thus he is from another class. Of cource Turn 10 could help a bit with using the colours of the classes in the names and/or the minimap as well.

  9. I would like to see the leaderboard at the end ordered from all classes combined, thus Le Mans style. Now it looked very scattered and if I’m curious who the driver was (from another class) just before or after me when we cross the finish line I can’t check that via the leaderboard.

  10. Just an observation but where are all those Yas Marina’s haters? It sure gets voted a lot in the lobby. Unlike Daytona oval, it popped up a lot of times too and never won. I’m not complaining though, I don’t mind Yas. Sure it’s not the most fluent track but I like the scenery there a lot, especially at night.

  11. Overall one small step in the right direction for this game. Keep it coming Turn 10.

Awww it’s only going to be around for a month? So far this is the most fun I’ve had on this game in a long time. Right now as of today when I was playing I think everything is set up perfectly. The lower classes start first. The end of race timer is like 2 minutes or something and usually everyone finishes. Only 1 or 2 people don’t. So far it’s been really fun, I don’t know if I just got into a good lobby or everyone in there actually wants to race. Everyone moves off of the racing line for upper classes, no wrecks, no corner cutting. By far the best and most fun hopper to date.

Also can someone clarify what the colors mean beside our names. Now that I I think about it, it may just be teams. But I was paying attention to it as it switched every race. And I caught on quickely that the color it changed to is what class you be assigned next race. Then later on in noticed there was green thrown in there so that confused me. I don’t know if it was just a huge coincidence and luck that I got placed on that colors class every time or it was ment to be. It happend for like 10 races in a row. If not and it’s just to show teams, this would be a good thing to add in the future.

I’ve had races at both ends of the spectrum. Some wrecks were just caused by someone not knowing the track, some by impatience, and a few on purpose. However I usually easily finished first in my class a full second faster per lap most of the time than second place. This would make for some killer league races!

I hope multi class gets a permanent home! This is what I’ve been waiting for, only having a Forza Le Mans lobby back would top this!

It’s in monthly to start. If it remains popular it will stay around. So far it has been up at the top in numbers so I wouldn’t worry about it going away right now.

Also remember a good majority of players have never raced this hopper. Multi class is a new concept to them. Be patient these first couple weeks and offer tips or forgiveness:)

Will it always be an A-B-C-S class mix or will we have other selections as well? I think S-R-P will make for a nice group too, kinda like Prototype & GTLM Le Mans style but with WTCC in the mix.

They had that in forza 4 it was called Le man’s hopper. It was R1 (p1 and p2) and gt cars. You could only use the ones that were in the le mans class/series. I don’t remember if there was more than one gt class. The gt cars started 1st, then p2, then p1. It was a lot of fun back in the day, I hope it makes an appearance some time in the future. It’s basically abc’s but a lot faster.

Sounds like fun, too bad in FM6 all prototypes are just put into 1 big group. :frowning: It’s okay to have one big overall “endurance prototype” group where they all fit in, but the in-game tag “family” could be used to further specify the prototypes into LMP1, LMP2, DP, LMP900 and C1. That would allow for some more specific races.

I’d like this it was on of the showcases for Porsche. The most fun I had in the game. Driving th Penske #7 spyder at VIR through traffic. Omg it’s was the best ever.

I woul be scared to do this publicly. There are persons that are racing in s class and it’s clearly too much for them.

This was the best hopper I’ve been in a long long time.
Thank you for bringing it back.

That’s great news Triton. This ABCS lobby is the most fun I’ve ever had on online, you’ve done a great job.

This is great fun. One down side is some people don’t let the higher classed cars pass. But overall its a really good idea.
