I have an idea of new mode which could give more depth to the game. I’m talking about champioships that would tell a story about specific: car, brand, driver, engineer, constructor. To make it clear I will give you an example
Gordon Murray Legacy - series focused on cars that Gordon Murray was involved in making.
There would be 5 championships in that series with 3-4 races each
Brabham BT46B
McLaren MP4/4
McLaren F1
Mercedes SLR McLaren
GMA T.50 and GMA T.50s Niki Lauda
Important thing - before every champioship there would be short movie telling a story about that specific car, and about Gordon Murray’s life
Another example would be Michael Schumacher Legacy series with championships focused on cars that were most important for his career (for example: Jordan 191, Benetton B194, Ferrari F2000) and again each champioship would have short intro movie telling about part of Michael’s career
What do you think about that? I think that it would be great to have like 15-20 champioships that would tell stories about most important people in motorsport and motorisation history
Think something like that for career/ single player/ new option menu button (legacy races) side would be cool. Once a month or whatever represent a new driver ect.
Maybe even do the same races/ overtakes they did and was known for. Kinda recreate the moments that made them famous and see how your on the fly decision making skills would be tested.
Have it to where not just following there moves and lines to accomplish what they did. Sometimes I reflect on races and wonder if I did this or that would have changed the outcome.
Neat idea, I think nascar used to have a similar feature back in the day. To all the drivers from yesterday to today and beyond, your legacies live on .
Next issue is getting the ai cars off that best line and recreating the events to match reality, have the ai cars not be so robotic and brainless as your decisions affect there line and style, future decisions.
This would be cool if the game had a more immersive & better-integrated approach to storytelling.
I feel like this game/series has a dull “storytelling” approach, usually consisting of just a couple of on-screen sentences in text form, along with maybe a brief voice-over while the camera pans around a stationary car in a showroom.
…Such “storytelling” barely lasts mere seconds and doesn’t feel very immersive or connected to gameplay.
I agree. For such game mode they need to change their approach to storytelling. The short movies I told about should look more like documentary movie, not like those current intros for series. And It would be great if voice-over was made by some motorsport commentator, journalist or former race driver (like David Croft, Will Buxton, David Coulthard, Martin Brundle etc.)
