Needle Climb Drift Zone & broken steering wheel

I have been trying to get enough points on Needle Climb Drift Zone to qualify to the second rank on the Fortune Island DLC which requires 80k/90k points in a Ferrari 458, however I either end up getting 3 or a low 4 digit scores or failing less than half way through (the best I got was just passed 10,000 but failed just before the final bend). I tried watching videos of others demonstrate how to do it correctly but after 30/40 attempts my steering wheel (Logitech DFGT) started feeling like the force feedback was slipping and shortly after completely cutout with a burning smell.

How is this mission completed as the Ferrari 458 seems incapable as it is constantly skidding out and there doesn’t seem to be a way of making progress on this DLC and could this have caused a failiure with the steering wheel?

Thanks,
LH.

It’s easy on a controller and it’s possible on a wheel. Could it destroy cheap wheel? Sure, why not.

Manual gears, abs off, traction off

Probably harder with a wheel anyway.

Manual helps a lot, same with TCS off, but ABS isn’t important if it’s turned on or off . STM has to be disabled.

To the OP, use rewind if needed, but be aware to if you have been in the drift zone and you rewind out of it, you’ll have to restart your attempt.

As for the wheel breaking, I don’t know.

Oh Abs not important? I thought it stopped your wheels locking, and hand brake drifts I thought worked better with locked wheels? Well I was only figuring it out for myself anyway, I’m not an expert.

Oh, and isn’t the challenge actually part for the treasure hunt? If so, it should not be mandatory to qualify for the next round. If it got this right, it’s for the treasures you can unlock as you qualify for the next round of the Conquistador.

I have been trying with the keyboard after posting this but the 458 just keeps spinning out causing it to fail the drift zone, how do you keep it straight? After watching a few tutorials (albeit most were rather unhelpful) I’ve noticed a couple of people have said that drifting can only be done properly if the vehicle is 4 wheel drive. I was also thinking of trying an Xbox controller but I am not able to as my PC does not support wireless device connection.
