Could you give me some advice on how to tune AWD differentials? I can’t seem to tune out the understeer. It’s really bugging me as I know that these drivetrains have the ability to beat RWD ones in terms of cornering speeds. It’s mostly mid corner and exit, on throttle + off, understeer. Any help is appreciated.
.
Are you sure its the Diff? Based on what you are describing it most likely due to ARBs!!
If sure, try 100/0;100/0;100 to test…basically emulating a RWD.
There have been several other threads around this topic within the FM7/Tuners section (as well as in the FM5/6 sections) which you can also SEARCH to get some add’l tips. Another option, if you want to post your car/build/tune, we an assess it. I am sure folks will chime in and help. Its hard to answer specifically w/o such details.
Thanks for the advice. I’ve come up with a new method: I will try out the RWD-like AWD settings that you have listed above, and adjust the center diff to get rid of any unwanted oversteer. I don’t think I need to post the tune, I just needed a nudge in the right direction.
Again, thanks for the help.

P.S. Haha you must be a beast with the X-Class drivers license.
As Kid stated, understeer can come from a variety of other factors as well such as ARBs, springs, dampers and even bad alignment.
Just commit on a baseline for the diff and the try to soften front ARBs, front springs or front dampers if understeer still exists. Stick with default alignment as it’s often in the right range.
Another tip: make sure rear dampers are lower than front dampers
Thanks, I’ll try this out. The suspension is already geared towards oversteer, and the alignment is perfect. I get great turn in grip, but it let’s go afterwarde. AWD heavily relies on good AWD diff settings so I’ll fiddle with them. I think I’ll shift the balance to 80% to the rear.
Um, it’s kind of a weird one. It’s just a Mercedes C-Class with sports weight reduction and an AWD swap + some extra power. I just kind of wanted to replicate a 4-matic model with reduced weight to offset the drivetrain weight.
P.S. I was doing some thinking and reading some tuning guides, specifically the one by Worm in the FM6 forum. If If I had around 85% of power to the rear, wouldn’t I lower the accel to around 45-35 at the rear, and around 90 at the front? Most FWD cars have around 90-100 accel, and most RWD cars have a very low accel at the rear.
