My Mk2 Escort gear change has turned into a dog squeaky toy?

Odd though it sounds . . .

Doing one of the Monthly Rivals (Autocross in Sebring) - I had to downgrade my MkII Escort to make it legal, so just loaded up a tune.

It loaded the rival twice for some reason. Stopped at the first menu screen before you race and loaded Sebring all over again.

But here’s the strange bit - at every gear change (and being Autocross, there were a few) the car made a sound not dissimilar to a dog’s squeaky toy - one of the dogs even looked up and cocked his head to one side!!

Did the tuner drop a toy down the side of the gearchange?!

Strange . . . .

Since your game had this unusual behaviour, I would bet that this screwed up the audio pipeline somehow.
Did you quit and load the event again? If so did that happen again?
It’s probably just been a bug.

When I first played the game, I had a sound issue which would gradially reduce the sounds played throughout the race until it was total silence…
I was driving the Shelby GT500 with it’s loud supercharger whining which has gone first, then the engine and car sounds and at last all the ambient sounds.
Very weird, but as the game was still installing in the background, I was blaming it for this.
Never happened to me since.

Turbo wastegate noise?

The waste gate on my Impreza don’t sound like tha., No its like the OP said, only the dogs toy aint down side of the gear box its under the clutch pedal!

Nope, Group D spec . . . still running on carbs. It was way too squeaky for any wastegate that I’m aware of! Nice thought though.

I carried on playing after this rivals event and it never occurred again. Nor did it occur this morning. Must have been one of those glitches, caused by the double-loading of Sebring.
As far as I am aware, game wasn’t updating at the time.

I guess my Drivatar found the squeaky toy while racing overnight, so if he hit anyone during the last 24 hours, that’ll be why - sorry!

Hah, I have a somewhat similar problem with an '05 NSX-R tune that I’ve run in A-class rivals. In some runs the engine sounds normal but more often than not, any rev of the engine makes it sound like some kind of oversized RC car. But I’ve only run the car on Bathurst and with that specific build, so it might be just fine on other courses. Bizarre, nonetheless!
