Anyone else here think that T10 needs to take a serious look at the map rotations and lap counts in the breakout hoppers?
I’ve been running mostly S class breakout for quite a while and find it much less enjoyable compared to S class in FM6. So much so, I find myself playing more FM6 than FM7. The track rotation and lap counts in FM7 has me seriously wondering if they are intentionally trying to kill the breakout hopper classes. Some of the silly things I’ve seen include…
- Short Hockenheim with 2(maybe 3) laps(Why???)
- Yas Marina North with only 2 laps(2:20 race…really???)
- No Nurburgring
- No Bathurst
- Full circuits very rarely show up
- VIR variants show up too much…full circuit is awesome, but the others tend to be a crashfest.
Tracks that rarely show up include Mazda raceway, Mugello, Suzuka, Maple Valley, Road America, Homestead…heck, Dubai isn’t even in the rotation(that I’ve seen). One positive out of this is that I love the addition of the Monza full circuit to S class. I really like that track…it rivals Road America as my favorite track…which is a tough pill to take as I don’t think I’ve seen full Road America in S class for FM7.
What is the point of having a “new” game only to chop the legs out from under it with poor track rotation and lap count decisions for the online component? To me, seems like the track variety and lap counts make FM6 the better racing game…and even then my general feeling was that there were too many “infield circuits” in FM6. This is also side stepping the fact of how FM6 is the more polished game.
There are more than enough tracks in FM7 to give us at least a 32 track rotation(maybe 48+ if you consider Alt/reverse variants like Monza, Indy Classic, Suzuka) of full circuits on a rotation similar to what FM4 used to do…I sorely miss that about FM4…nothing but FULL circuits.
Maybe file this under hopper suggestions(full circuit hopper), but it’s one of just many design decisions for this game that leave me shaking my head.

Whatever they changed about map rotation between FM6 and FM7 is god awful. I see it across every lobby. After several months of this, I doubt it’s just my bad luck.

Ditto that. I’m surprised that I have not seen more feedback on it. Maybe it’s not as much of a issue with other players as it is with us.
With the shorter races and a rotation that seems more repetitive than FM6, The only option to get longer races is to go into the endurance hopper…which to me is too long…or go back to FM6. There is no middle ground for getting good 8-10 minute races now.
I got in some more FM7 S class last night and did get a little bit better rotation with Road America full alt finally making an appearance. However, the lobbies are no where near as full as they were with FM6 at this point after it’s release. We got down to around 7 players in a lobby at one point…that’s unusual for a Forza this new. A couple of rain tracks in a row took the lobby down. Took a few more races, but it did come back up to around 18.
I’ll tell you of another lobby killer I saw in FM7 S class last night…9 laps of the Top Gear figure 8 track in the wet. That track is bad enough in the dry, but 9 laps in the rain is just silly. Just like 2 laps of the Ring in the wet in FM6…instant lobby killer.
At this point, I would gladly PAY for the ability to setup my own public hopper(that all could see when going to multiplayer hoppers) with my own custom rotation/lap count.

You think S Class is bad? A Class is even worse.
For instance you have races such as 6(!) laps of Le Mans FULL which takes longer than some of the Endurance GT Hopper races. Yet you have Hockenheim full with a whopping ONE LAP which is done in under 2 1/2 minutes! When the loading times take longer than the races I’d say there is something wrong with how these hoppers are set up.

And it’s not just hoppers. Leagues are suffering from this, too. Yesterday in Spec Sim they had us running the Rio Coast Loop. Twenty or so 500hp full size sedans with inadequate brakes and simulation damage on a bloody kart track. Want to guess how well that turned out?
Come on, T10! Leagues should be more involving: 8-10 laps and only full size circuits, please. These demo derby events are a joke.
Nice to see Super GT agrees with us on the lap count…just posted today. He was running S class.
It could do with some improvement, yes.
This is a known issue.
I got the vibe that the selections are maybe hurried or not enough time is given for the applicable T10 folks to put thought into it. Once explained, the folks involved get it and make changes.
I just hope it’s not an instance where it’s a staff who is otherwise great but just simply doesn’t get it. Managing those folks is challenging. Peaks and valleys. Peaks and valleys.
