Multiplayer revamp (format) (Spec Series car list) (Licenses)

An attempt to improve the featured multiplayer and make it more interesting following the racing format that currently works best in games like iRacing, GT7, or systems like Low Fuel Motorsport.

FORMAT IDEA

  • Restructuring of the featured multiplayer by dividing it into two categories.
Spec Events and Open Events, reducing it to a total of 10 events per week.
  • A three-weekly rotation system to have some of the most popular series on a frequent basis so that you don’t have to wait a long time to play them again.
  • Duration of races rotating in a way that brings variety and dynamism to multiplayer.
Organization of the featured multiplayer

SPEC EVENTS

Details

Events

  • Specific series with a non-modifiable BoP or PI (GTX, V8 Supercars, Vintage Le Mans, etc) for Featured section.
  • A registration system showing the number of players for that series.
  • Possible license (safety rating) as a requirement for access to some series.

Tracks

  • Three tracks per series. Too many tracks available for each series makes the races more chaotic, the level more uneven and the rotation of Thursdays irrelevant. Racing the same tracks during the week allows you to improve your times, thus having closer and cleaner races. And Forza is one of the worst games on that point.

Damage

  • Damage in some series to make better use of SR in matchmaking and avoid abusive use of engine braking.

Penalties

  • The off-track penalties are undoubtedly the worst thing about the game. A limit of contacts and off tracks with possible warnings, slow down or drive through would be better and far less frustrating.

Races

  • Fixed or identical setup for Introduction and Spec Series.
  • Possibility of adding restrictions in some series such as tire compound, number of pit stops, etc

Weather

  • Dynamic weather in 20, 30 and 60 minute races.

OPEN EVENTS

Details

Events

  • A featured section with events like Daily Racers, the current Multi-Class, or semi-open series (like AWD, FWD, etc) rotating weekly.
I think it would be better to include here those series where the vehicle can be improved. In order to better organise the menus and thus give more importance to this section.
  • Replace the daily class series with 3 weekly class series as in updates 11-13.

Tracks

  • All circuits in rotation.

Damage

  • No damage in 8-minute races or perhaps temporary damage that recovers after a few seconds similar to Gran Turismo.

LICENSING AND RANKING SYSTEM

Details
  • A licensing system that motivates the player to improve or reach a certain rank.
  • More difficult and extensive promotion system, as reaching high ranks such as 4999 should be very difficult or impossible for most players.
  • Design of licenses using the classes (PI)
  • Safety and skill rating should be visible during the race, knowing the possible level of the player would help a lot in certain actions.
  • Player statistics

i had been calling for more fixed setup multiplayer, i dont want spend my time trying to do a configuration that someone will always explore the meta to their favor, at least make classes where everyone use the same setup so its more based on driving skill than setup skill

Maybe with a little luck, in a year or two we’ll have some of that.

I totally agree. It is impossible to create events and league with the tools provided. It is all falling back on Xbox Party Chat. Let us create leagues where pilots can register, calendar, a way to steward the race, rules, ranking.

You can have a look at what SimGrid is doing for LMU, Iracing and ACC. Without this, multiplayer will never kick off and the game will just die.

Literally all the things I’ve thought about you’ve mentioned. I’d love to see all of it added.
Other things I’d like to see would be:

  • Track segment challenges. This would be fun to complete and importantly, help drivers improve.
  • Wet weather physics need urgent improvement.
  • Similar to the F1 games, interaction with a race engineer would be great.
  • Being able to see what tyres the driver around you are on. In general, we need more in race information.
