Multiplayer Problems Between 2 XBOX One Consoles

I’m looking for some more help with Forza Horizon. This time, it’s a problem I experienced with Multiplayer.

So a friend decided to help me complete some online achievements last night. We were both running Forza Horizon 1 from our XBOX One consoles.

Prior to starting the game, we established an XBOX One party to talk. After that, we started our games and entered the multiplayer lobby. From this point, I created a custom game and used the “Invite Friend” option from within the. The invite was sent and my friend opened it. After about 25 seconds, he received an error stating that he could not connect to xbox live, and that the session was no longer available. We tried this twice and he received errors both times.

Next, I created a party through the XBOX 360 emulator (menu) and tried to invite him that way. After accepting the invites, he received the same errors. We then reversed the roles and he sent me the invites the same way(s). This time, I received the errors with each invite.

We each did a complete reboot of our systems, including pulling the power cords for 30 seconds, and tried again. We still receive the errors. At this point, we gave up.

The previous night, I played Forza Horizon 1 online without any problem. I was able to create a custom game and I used the "Invite Club Members option. during the sessions, I had between 2-5 players attached and we were able to play. I did note, that most, if not all of the club members were playing on XBOX 360.

Have any of you seen this before? Is there a fix for it? Any help would be appreciated.

I don’t know what could be causing the error, but there may be a workaround depending on what you are trying to do.

If you are going for the list of online challenges such as completing the convoy challenges (drive A to B in certain car during day/night) you can do those in custom free roam. Rather than form a party before the event, you can create your own session, give it a custom name that your friend can search for in the list and join it that way. Inside the session you can talk to each other as part of the game, rather than needing to be in party chat or direct chat.

If it is ranked races, all I can suggest is both of you attempting to search for a session at the same time and hoping it puts you in the same event. With the game being quite old there are enough people to always find a game, but not so much that there are loads of sessions to make it hard to find another player searching this way.

Thanks for your advice/recommendation Avenger. My friend and I just happened to stumble into that very solution when we tried again last night. We also discovered that if one of joined a public lobby category, we could send a friend request, and that person could join.

It looks like we are on the right track.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me with this.
