Hi,
I would like to know what do you think about moza R3.
I am owner logitech 920 and i would buy this but i want be sure this is an upgrade…
Forza Motorsport XBX
Thanks
Going from 920 to a R3 wouldn’t say it’s worth it, arguably the Logitech will have better pedals, you would gain a newton and the experience maybe smoother. Think there’s limited wheel compatibility on Xbox, The R3 is a bad buy over something like a CSL.
You can’t really compare a G920/923 or even an R3 to the CSL DD. The Fanatec offering is just the wheelbase - no wheel, no pedals, no shifter - for $350 (for the cheapest, 5Nm version). Add the cheapest available wheel and pedals to that and you’re looking at close to $600.
For $350-400, either the Logitech or Moza gives you everything you need to just plug and play.
Now, with that being said, if you do have the money in your budget for the CSL DD (and a wheel, AND pedals), I’d definitely recommend that over the other two. Strength and quality of force feedback is night and day over the G920/923. I haven’t used the R3 personally, but I would imagine it feels much better than the Logitech but not quite as good as the Fanatec. Also, Fanatec has a much bigger ecosystem than either of the others, so if you wanted to upgrade to better pedals at some point, or a different style wheel, or add a shifter or handbrake, you could easily do so. Moza is growing in this area and have been adding some cool new accessories, but they’re not at Fanatec’s level yet.
The other thing to consider is game compatibility. Almost every driving game that you’d want to use a wheel with on console, the Logitech offerings will be supported. Slightly less so with Fanatec, but they’re usually pretty good. Moza, you may run into some problems with certain games not being compatible, being that it’s a relatively new device and not all games will recognize the hardware.
Bottom line, I’d say if you can afford to upgrade to something like the CSL DD, go for it. It completely blows the 920 out of the water. The R3, from what I’ve heard, does offer a bit more power and more detailed FFB than the 920 (direct drive vs gear-driven wheel - direct drive is going to win hands down). Whether it’s worth spending ~$400 for that upgrade, is up to you.
Thanks a lot!!
I will think!
I would get the best wheel you could afford. Logitech and fanatec both give the option to have a setup capable of working on pc, xbox and playstation. Basically you buy a playstation/pc wheelbase and wheel. You also buy just a xbox wheel. Playstations security chip is in the base and xboxs is in the wheel. So you pair an xbox wheel with the playstation wheelbase and your set.
Since i went with thrustmaster when xbox one came out, i cant do this. But i bought a drivehub which allows me to use my ts-xw on playstation and it shows up as a tgt.
My advice would to not invest in xbox only hardware, yes they can still work on pc but on xbox the wheel is held back by xboxs controller protocol which doesnt allow all buttons to be used. I heard with forza motorsports release this was going to change but it hasnt and likely never will.
This makes every 3rd party racing game on xbox inferior to playstations version. That means titles like f1, dirt and assetto corsas are all better on playstation. If you ever decide to get a playstation itd be better to have one wheelbase thats compatible rather than having to get another one.
As a controller user for 25 years, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first week with the R3. Can’t speak to whether or not it is a decent upgrade for you tho
A very valid point. This is actually the reason I decided to abandon the Xbox platform and switched to PC. A few years ago, I bought a CSL DD with the McLaren GT3 wheel, and eventually I got tired of not being able to use all the buttons and functionality it’s capable of.
Plus, I like the fact that on PC, I have the ability to mix and match different brands of hardware if I want, and am not tied to any one company’s ecosystem.
The CSL DD works better on PC. The shifter lights work, all buttons can be assigned/remapped, FFB generally felt better. And as Triple-G wrote above, you are not locked into one specific ecosystem.
I use an 8Nm CSL DD, CSL Elite pedals V1 w/ Load Cell brake and a Thrustmaster TH8a shifter. It works great in every title I have. Even FM7 recognised my mis-matched setup with few issues. The only problem, I had to set the wheelbase in Clubsport V2.5 compatibility mode for FM7, GTR and GTR2. Other than that, its all assign the controls and go.
