Mod management in single player

A couple of questions:

  1. Mods appear to pay for themselves, but is it worth always purchasing the 50,000 premium mod chest? So far, that’s what I’ve been doing, but is there a better way?

  2. Should I sell mods for which it’s difficult to meet the criteria, and use mods when I know I can achieve the goals? If it’s tentative, like perfect cornering or perfect passes, should I just sell it rather than risk not completing it?

I’m interested mostly in accumulation of credits, so whatever works best for that.

if you’re doing longer races, the 50k mod crates are the way to go. Personally, I’ve been selling any mods that return less than 50% and any that I don’t fancy using. The perfect pass ones really got on my nerves so I sell those every time I get them. If you stick to the 50k mods, there’s a chance you’ll get a legendary, and you usually make way more back than you paid for them. If your career is set on anything less than long though, buying mod crates becomes a false economy.

I agree… 50K is the way to go.

I have purchased the more expensive ones and, although I will often get a car… I also get the “Badges” which, to me, serve no purpose.

I will sometimes buy the 20K crates if I’m short on cash, and will keep all as long as my total MODs come to, at least, 100% Bonus.

All races are long, in FREE PLAY I double the Lap Count of any race I run to extend the MOD value. And, as Dog8MyGamertag mentioned… I sell the “PERFECT PASS” MODs always. (Getting a “Good” Pass is hard enough).

Funny I was going to say the same!

I sell all mods below 30% and only buy the 50K crates. I also sell some 40% merit mods when I have plenty of others. I also started selling the 6 perfect pass mods… though I do the singles.

For me the other crates are not worth it nd now and then I’ll buy a 150 - 300K crate but always find it disappointing…LOL

As for as the 70K crate for Mod’s and a Badge… it’s like WTH were they thinking with a Freaking Badge? What are they for… I can’t even fin them… can you sell them? I also never buy the suits… I’m 14 short of the required 50 for GP but I guess it will Pop when it pops.

I always wonder what the hell do the yoyo’s think of when they setup the gamer points. Things like Driver Suits should never be a GP challenge… for me it should always be race challenges and not revolve around simply buying crates, or DLC or online/multiplayer. Multiplayer is ok if you like it… but for me it’s to darn time consuming and once in the race someone always wrecks me multiple times. Maybe they should work on reducing time to get into a race.

Anyway… I think you’re doing the best… Mod’s from the 50K crate is the way to best develop cash for long races… heck any race.

Agree with the others 50K is the best value. Perfect Pass you need to start around 22nd on the grid and steamroll up the middle weaving in and out as they try to block. That usually gives you most before the first corner. Out on the track, you tag the car get up close tail it, pull out and you need to air sand the top coat of paint off the car you are passing it is very doable and after a couple of times, you find yourself doing it even without the mod in for practice. Anything else will just be a good pass. The best track for that is the straights on Le Mans full circuit. I am more curious about the “Stay on track for race” ones given the Drivatar behavior what are the chances of doing this in a long race.

Very easy on walled in tracks like Prague and Rio. Bumping the wall will not invalidate the mod, and because of the walls there are very few places where you can exceed track limits

I thought that when I triple loaded the stay on track mod - it was like a red rag to the AI, don’t think I got past turn 1 at Daytona Oval :frowning:

If you go off track just rewind to before you went off the track and continue racing.

Oh okay, I assumed rewind would dirty the lap and indicate I had left the track or cheated. I have been leaving that to the stinkin’ AI

That works as long as you’re constantly watching the MOD indicator on screen… Too many times I have seen the “red X” in the box and have no idea where I went off the track…

The other real challenging MOD is the one where you have no driving or braking lines (don’t recall how it’s worded). I usually save those up and stack them all together so I will be running without the braking line on one track only. Obviously, the Oval tracks are petty easy with this MOD, and I have found I can do the Short Dubi track as well. It’s just hard without the braking line because so many tracks don’t have “feet before turn” marking boards available.

Well for me this is not a problem, I never ran with any lines since FM1 (or any other game with that system in fact) so I learn early to use environment as reference and look way ahead instead of down at the shinny arrows ( I am not saying that in a snide way either, in case is sound like it). In fact, instead, I wish there was a super mod for running with everything off with a decent bonus and I would be happy to run this 100% of the time.

The perfect passing one I hate just because instead of racing normal I need to purposefully drive like a nut to ‘perfect pass’ other AI which is to say not really in a ‘natural’ perfect pass during the course of the game but you must engineer it usually within the start of the race.

Track limit is one of my favorite too as it force me to stay focus but as mentioned here you can also maximize them on track like Rio, Long Beach & Prague where there’s very few ‘off’ limit section.

Long Beach is probably the best place to run this mod. Getting punted into a wall doesn’t count as going off track.
If you do go off track, a quick rewind will un-X the mod.

Sorry, made a duplicate response. Thanks for the info.

I’ve been doing the 70k mixed crate. It’s given me a few cash bonuses and some interesting cars.

50k box, 10-20 lap races makes you anywhere from 200k to 500k per race easily. Plus you jump at least a full level XP wise on top for another free car. Its the best money earner imo. FYI always take a discounted price car. If you get stuck for cash later and need it asap, you can always sell them for full price and make a nice profit on it. They will appear once again in the level up screen post race at its discounted price at a later date.

I typically buy three 20k crates and one 50k crate per transaction. I pretty much always have enough mods to combine for at least 100% credit bonus per race, and I do all the career races on Long. I average 150k credits per race, including the VIP bonus and Pro difficulty setting. If you figure a green +30% three-use mod from a 20k crate ‘cost’ you 5k in credits and nets you 22-28k after three races I consider them worth it.

I sell the Perfect Pass mods because while getting one or two is doable, four or six are highly unlikely, and I don’t want to wait for just the right track and car class to be able to use it. Perfect corners are pretty easy, especially on a Long race.

For perfect pass you just need to drive close to who you are passing. The slower your going the closer you need to be. Be aggressive on the first lap, rewind is your friend then it’s smooth sailing.

Simply not worth the trouble unless you’re naturally masochistic. It’s so much less frustrating to use the abundance of other mods that promote natural gameplay.
