Missing flying start option in test drive

I know this could also be an intended feature, but since it’s not mentioned in the release notes, I assume it’s a bug.

How to reproduce the bug:
1.Race → Free Play → Advanced Event Setup
2.Setup → Session Settings → Game Type: Test Drive
3.Rules → Race Start → Race Start Type: Standing or Rolling
4.Accept All and Start Race
What happened:
It will be a standing start or a slow rolling start.
What I expect to happen:
Prior to Update 10, no matter which start type you chose, it would always be a flying start (like what you get in a practice session of the Builders Cup/multiplayer).
or
Add flying start as a “race start type” option.

Flying start is really useful when you’re tring to get the information needed to tune the car and/or set reference times.
Whereas standing start/slow rolling start is really annoying when you’re trying to do a flying lap, especially when driving a slow car on a long track.

Test drive in “quick event setup” in Free Play mode used to have flying starts as well, but after Update 10 starts are standing. They’re annoyingly slow and look odd after the intro with a car speeding around the track so I hope this change wasn’t intended and will be fixed soon.

Platform: PC/Steam.

Flying start would be good to have in Rivals too.

Yes, but at least you have the option to skip your current lap to get a “flying start” in rivals.

In any case, it’s fair to say that this thread is being diligently kept up to date!
I think this parameter was adjustable on FM7. It’s a small thing, but it can make a big difference.

I’m experiencing this problem at the moment in the Rivals section.
Temporary Rivals (challenges of the week, of the month, VIPs, etc.) are automatically set to rolling start.
Whereas the flock of other Rivals, all categories, all tracks included, are in forced standing start.
There’s obviously no way of changing the setting, whether I like it or not.

For rivals if you go to the pause menu, there should be an option called “skip lap”, which effectively gives you a flying start.
This bug is just really annoying for doing a flying lap in a slow car on long tracks (e.g. Nord), because we don’t get the “skip lap” option for test drive sessions.

yes, fortunately there’s an option to skip the tour.
Still, you get the whole cinematic at the start of the race, which is very slow compared to the rolling start.
I lost between 20 and 25 seconds doing this,
All in all, that’s several hours ‘lost’ waiting behind my screen just because this setting doesn’t exist, while browsing the rivals.

I think that cutscene can also be skipped by pressing A on controller or enter on keyboards? But I could be wrong.
However, the cutscene of your car entering the pit in the end of a practice session cannot be skipped… for whatever reason.

You’re definitely correct about “hours lost” in this game because of some stupid details…
Even if the recent updates are pretty good, imo they still need to solve all these QoL features and little things like consistency to really make this game close to “good”.

Yeah, you’re probably right about never… and definitely right about that being really sad…

Unlike many people on the forum, I started with FH4 because I don’t have a console and it was the first Forza game to be released on Steam.

While the Horizon games are great, and despite FM 8 having tons of problems, I still prefer it because of its sim-cade nature. In my opinion, no other game can strike such a good balance between sim and arcade as FM.

I love it so much that it’s my most played game on Steam, with 1.8k hours of play time. I even went to the trouble of getting a key for Forza 7 because I thought it must be a great game (and it is).

Strictly speaking, there has been no official announcement about these things yet… But I’ve learned to never get my hopes up…

I wouldn’t be surprised if they stop supporting Forza soon, with or without communication to us.

If I could still make one last wish about the game, it would be letting the game being playable offline, and not to pull a Ubisoft… but like I said, I don’t have any expectations, especially at this point.

So I guess, RIP T10 and FM.
