I think a class with the Mini Cooper SE, the Renault 5 EV, the Honda e and the Opel Corsa E (as in electric, not gen E) would be really fun. A bit of a class for road going electric go-karts compared to the rest of the car list.
Hello to you developers of the Forza Horizon 5 team! I would like to suggest a new MINI Cooper to you. This MINI is the 2023 Cooper SE so an electric MINI ^^ . I offer you 3 versions of it: JWC, Favoured and Classic trim: The 3 versions make 184 hp in electric 0 to 100 in 7.3 seconds I invite you to check out the MINI website for more information about the vehicle: I know that in Forza Horizon 5 you want to highlight the electric and for me this one will be the best electric car added in Forza . I hope to roll it into the game if it is implanted in any case, thanks to you! ^^ I don’t know how to put it in the car hub voted make it for me please
Top Gear recently got a chance to drive the “JCW” version of the EV model.
Unfortunately at this point the JCW package is just for appearance, it doesn’t have any performance changes and it’s a standard Cooper SE underneath.
Apparently the upcoming ICE version might include some extra performance though.
Extremely expensive though at the moment, £42,500 for this whole thing, plus it’s only got 215hp to lug around it’s 1600kg mass so it’s far from quick.
It isn’t bad when you look at it by itself but when you factor in the price and weight there’s a lot of better options out there.
Like the Ford Focus ST is around £38,000 and it has around 280hp with around 1500kg of mass, it is an ICE though and those still do a lot better in terms of value (and they hold resale way more).
But even for an EV hatch there’s the Cupra Born V3 230 which is also around £38,000, this is a bit heavier but it has around 20hp more. The thing is though this Cupra isn’t the performance version either, it’s the premium model and this is supposed to be the new Mini JCW.
When compared to other performance EV hatches the MG MG4 EV XPower exists and offers AWD, a little bit more weight but 435hp with 600n.m and with similar range figures. Despite that massive gap in performance the MG is only £36,500 compared to the Mini’s £42,000 with the JCW package.
Like in terms of value for money I don’t think EVs are the way to go but the Mini really falls flat for a JCW model, it’s less of a Hot Hatch and more of a Lukewarm Hatch in terms of performance and that price makes it even worse.
I don’t think they should’ve offered the JCW package yet if they’re not willing to tinker with the performance alongside it, the base model Cooper SE is around £30,000 which is still quite pricey but you get the same specs and it’s a lot more easy to swallow as an everyday car.
This current generation is actually two different cars styled similarly to appear as the same generation as nicely illustrated in the comparison below.
The currently Chinese built J01 electric version (British production planned to start in 2026) uses a unique platform unrelated to the ICE car, it was developed with Great Wall Motors, has different dimensions, currently only available as three door and if in doubt you can recognise it by having a conventional bonnet.
The British built ICE (internal combustion engine = petrol or diesel versions) could technically be described as a restyle of the prior generation (you will notice below that the chassis and wheelbase dimension match that of the previous generation), it is technically unrelated to the J01 and you may notice the much larger clamshell bonnet which makes it easy to distinguish from its electric sibling. This car is offered as five door (F65), three door (F66) saloons and two door convertible (F67, yet to be officially launched).
Available in 3-door hatchback and cabrio, the new MINI JCW is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged engine producing 231hp of power. Mated to a double-clutch gearbox, it sprints from 0-100kph in 6.1 seconds and has a top speed of 250kph.
