It’s just for this month.
FWIW… following up, the new extended night is a cake. A rough timing while I was hunting glow crates Headlights on to off might be about 10 minutes longer (about 40 minutes) but most of that is dusk and dawn which might as well be daylight. Actual dark still seems about 10 minutes. No change. And even that isn’t Dark. Unless you’ve never been outside a big city.
An always day server is a justifiable resource for people who need it. I might even visit it too occasionally, even though I am hipster who prefers dark skies and wet roads.
I play the game focused mostly on racing (I am a big FM7 fan). IMO, the new tracks are much more technical and that’s a nice challenge. I’m not a big rally fan, but the split time feature and audio call outs are fun.
I don’t the game at night because the ambient lighting looks more realistic than the previous FH games. But as I always drive with the in-car view the helicopter light makes it difficult to see road when there is rain.
The one thing I would like to is when you try and drive a super car in the sand, it doesn’t go anywhere.
I can stretch my imagination when it comes to some of the other cars, but I think its just too silly to take a Pagani Zonda for a spin in the dunes. The Lambo Hurican would probably be more like a bull dozer! ![]()
It isn’t necessarily that we can’t see at all. Some of us just hate driving at night. It mutes colors and for me personally, looking at headlights all the time gets on my nerves. I don’t actually get what’s so fascinating about driving at night in the first place. I got puking sick of it in the real world in my early 20s.
The best suggestion I’ve heard is to have sliders and the ability to turn the day-night cycle on or off. I don’t know about doing this for multiplayer but I’m not into multiplayer anyway so I guess I don’t really care.
IMO that Midnight stuff can’t go away fast enough.
I just wanted a lil bit of neon under my car.
Really nice idea, but a little bit overwhelming for my eyes.
I disagree with the entire OP but this part in particular. Not only are there features they should have worked on between iterations, but there are things that still aren’t delivered that were promised.
Things that should have been in the game at launch:
- Custom Championships
- More garage, paint, and tuner spaces
- The promised convertible feature on all applicable cars (PS only ONE car has been updated since the launch of the game)
- Half of the cars they’ve been drip feeding us on the playlist
- Alfa Romeo and Lancia (probably not their fault but putting it on the list just in case it is)
- Better tire balance (offroads are stupidly and obviously OP while sports are straight up throwing, wouldn’t have taken much playtesting to figure this out)
- More restriction settings for eventlab creations (drivetrain, tire compound, etc)
- Car meet mode
- Synchronous and/or asynchronous Club v Club game modes.
- Persistent lobbies (that actually work), the idea for dynamic lobbies was not only bad but was never going to work as advertised and low and behold here we are and it’s never once worked as initially promised
- Any amount of effort put into the single player open world experience.
There are more things, but I wouldn’t consider them things I felt this game needed at launch.
As for the DLC, you delete the helicopter, make the calls earlier so they are actually functional, add custom championships so you can do true rally style events with cumulative time, and also add a PvP to the rally game mode, have an actual road and a dirt endurance race, swing the ratio of cars to offroaders way more in favour of cars (loved winning trophy trucks for road rally events let me tell you /s), and you got yourself an excellent DLC. As things stand now, it’s too busy tripping over itself prioritizing presentation over the actual racing experience to be considered good in my eyes.
I consider the Midnights update pretty good. I mean it’s missing any of the updates the game needs, but in isolation of that fact it’s pretty good. I’m liking the longer nights, and while I’m glad the neon in races isn’t staying, it’s a good moodsetter. I don’t like the cars this month, but adding a wide variety of cars to the game means I’m not going to like some months, so I’m not going to count that as a negative.
I finished the DLC. It was a bit short (which was to be expected) but fun.
One major improvement would be to make every race event a small 3 race championship like the seasonal championships instead of just 1 race. That way the playing time of the DLC’s is drastically increased. You’ll also feel like you’re participating in a rally event instead of just one short stage.
Sadly they seem to have despised the thought of us playing any kind of championship on our own terms since FH4.
It took me a while but I’m starting to really appreciate Sierra Nueva. Had to push past the bugs and annoyances first but once the game stopped nagging me with new events and auto-pinning challenges like it had ADHD, now I’m getting into it.
The problem now? There isn’t enough.
The roads are the best addition I’ve ever seen in a Forza game. I want more! I sorely wanted to make a Goliath road race around the map but between a lack of paved roads and race starting locations I had to settle on a point to point route.
The rally map is detailed enough that I don’t feel any pressing need to add props and fill in space like I did with the base area.
Slow cars have a place to call home!!
PGG could have done a lot to make the presentation of this DLC better but when you dig past all of the garbage the map itself is a real gem. It’s just too danged small. If, say HALF of FH6’s map is as tight and technical as Sierra Nueva and half is wide open like Mexico then I think they’d have a real winner.
Despite how small this map is I don’t want to go back to Mexico anymore. The Badlands are now my home.
Bring back custom championships!
I was running some custom rallies with the T16 in FH4 yesterday and thought, “why the hell can I not make this a championship?”. It was a great feature and it’s frankly unbelievable that they haven’t added it back, after massive amounts of people asking for it and two games without it.
Even though it is so buggy you would assume Bethesda made the add on, for the most part I really like it. It’s certainly better than racing stock skylines in Guanajuato
