Just wondering if anyone has used Microsoft Rewards points in the past to use towards purchasing Forza titles. I’ve been saving mine up for quite a while now with that intention (purchasing FH6) but I suddenly started wondering if they somehow are excluded from this type of purchase?
while you can’t directly purchase games with rewards points, you can get a gift card and then use that to get games. if the standard edition of H6 is 60USD, then it might be around 50k points
This is what I was hoping. I was mostly just wanting confirmation from anyone to know for sure that sometimes, specific titles get excluded in some way.
There’s a guy on YouTube who bought a Series S with cards earned via Rewards. He posted ways to earn points when there were many more available without too much effort. Nowadays I do enough to pay for game pass. I used to get discounted keys from an online store, which meant Forza Horizon Ultimate editions were cheap enough to buy day 1. When Forzas were worth buying, of course.
What I said above may not be the case in the future. MS just changed the Game Pass subscriptions, with 3 levels going from $10 Essential to $15 Premium to $30 Ultimate per month. The latter will let you earn up to $100 per year from Rewards. Also, GP can’t be paid for with Rewards Points but only with gift cards. This according to Brad Sams on YT.
My usual 3 month subscription reward (for 35K points) is not currently available but it often has gone ‘out of stock’ in the past, so I’ll wait and see if it comes back.
Starting to think of maybe getting the Microsoft Store card instead and just using it for the game purchase. I don’t play a lot of game so game pass isn’t really my cup of tea and I don’t need it for playing on PC.
