March DLC Clue Thread

It’s interesting for clue 5 that both Paul Newman and Steve McQueen are attached to it. That can lead to many different cars, as both actors were avid racers. I’ll throw a couple of significant cars out there for this one based on each driver.

Paul Newman - While we already have 1 of the Bob Sharp Nissan variants in game, there are possibly a few earlier cars that Paul Newman drove (1979 280ZXX from his SCCA championship) that comes to mind. Newman also had a few series wins in a 935 Porsche, but that car is already in game. I’m leaning 280ZXX, as it sold a little while ago to Adam Corolla for 4.4 million.

Steve McQueen - Most notably attached to Porsche (i.e. Le Mans movie) so maybe a 917 (hopeful thinking, I know).

If Steve McQueen then I say '68 Mustang or maybe '68 Charger as the bad guy’s ended losing in the end, however, the quote was from Vince Lombardi, I believe, so could be a Pontiac.

Seconded on the Newman thoughts - Carolla is a friend of T10 so they’d certainly have access to the car.

Clue 2 : Delorean. In BTTF 3, they ask why people are walking in the future, Doc answered they’ll walk for fun.

Car 2 sounds like it could be the 2018 Alpine A110?

I suppose that might make more sense if it were skiing and not walking but perhaps that’s to be… e l u s i v e.

Looking at the recent SUV trend… Volvo XC90 T8 R-Design

Clue 5 –
apparently attributed to paul newman among 50 thousand other people, which is weird unless you know about his racing career. the 300zx is ingame, he ‘lost’ (2nd overall, 1st in class) @ lemans in 1979 driving a 935 variant. and it lost to a 935, & neither was the moby dick. there’s a rare skyline that bears his namesake but…i think something from CART or champ car?
Clue 6 –
possibly bc i saw the first reply before i saw the original post, made me think of hamilton, is there any reason to expect a 2018 F1 car? im gonna say
MP4-23 [sry if its ingame already, i only got it 2 days ago]

edit: nvm reply #2 is the answer for 5…forgot about the Cars connection

  1. 2018 Alpine A110
  2. ?
  3. Ford Model T
  4. 1989 Aston Martin AMR1
  5. ?
  6. Acura ARX-05
  7. Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine

I’m gonna say car number 7 is the 2017 Volvo XC90 T8 R-Design. Mostly because I want there to be a 4 cylinder 400 hp hybrid suv in the game.

Clue 1: Lincoln Continental
Clue 2: Chevy Colorado ZR2

Car 5
“Show me a good loser, and I will show you a loser.”

Paul Newman did say it. He also drove a Porche 915 in the 1971 movie Lemans. He also actually came in 2nd place in 1979 actually racing in Lemans in a Porche 935.

Actually I rechecked that. It was Steve MeQueen who was in the 1971 Lemans movie driving the Porche 915. Paul Newman did also race a Lotus Elan in his first win in SCCA and moved up to racing Datsun racing sedans winning for championships. He also starred in a movie Winning about a struggling race driver trying to revive his career at Indianapolis 500.

Car 3 - Nissan Leaf with its strange e-pedal system?

A place where people walk but is supposedly more fun to drive is the Stelvio Pass, so it could be the Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

I was thinking of the mall since it is a popular power walking destination so thought of top gear where jeremy had the car chase in the shopping center with c6 corvette. That one is already in game but don’t recall the car he was chasing after.

I think clue 2 is something to do with Pike’s peak…people can walk the trail and it takes 6 to 10 hours…so driving would definitely be more fun…
Possibly Norma M20…winner last 2 years

Would love to see some inclusion of Hillclimb cars born in Europe, they don’t get enough attention.

Car 4: It may have done no better than fourth place, but it led the way to a return to victory.

I think it’s the Porsche 906, which placed fourth at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, just some years before Porsche won Le Mans two years in a row, with the Porsche 917.

Car 5: “Show me a good loser, and I will show you a loser.”

This is a quote attributed to Paul Newman, so probably it has something to do with him. He voiced Doc Hudson on the first Cars film, so it could be the Hudson Hornet (which alone would make this the best car pack ever, in my opinion LOL!).

Hope you’re right, man! The more classic Porsche racers, the better!

My guesses:

Car 1
Reliant Robin

Car 2
Alfa Stelvio

Car 3
Ford Model T

Car 4
As per Lucas JSR: I’m going Porsche 906. Why not?

Car 5
Hudson Hornet. I am a little suspicious, though, as we haven’t seen any returning cars in FM7 DLC, IIRC. It also seem like too obvious a choice.

Car 6
People are saying Schumacher, but I’m going M. Andretti who, if I’m not mistaken, is one of only a handful of drivers to have won races in F1, NASCAR and Indy. I’m going '69 Brawner Hawk for my car 6 guess, in which he won his first Indy 500.

Car 7
Volvo XC90 T8
