The Sport 350 was the ultimate Esprit. For 20 years, Esprits had used in-house developed I4s, but all changed in 1996 when the V8 was introduced. Due to using the same Renault gearbox, the power upgrade was limited to 50 PS over the contemporary 4-cylinder variant, the S4. The Sport 350 upped the ante, adding a carbon rear wing, and small upgrades around the entire car, including dropping the weight to just 1300 kg, developing the same 350 bhp as the standard V8. Richard Hammond had one until recently, and with values of Countaches, Testarossas and Diablos going crazy lately, the Esprit V8 remains one of the last semi-affordable 90s exotic cars.
