Lesson learned.

I have been playing FH3 for a while now and up until tonight have loved every second of it.

I went on to see what was going on in the auctions. I have been playing for a while now and was looking to save up for the Subaru BRZ HE.

I noticed there was one on the ‘Featured Auctions’ group and seen that it had a 20M buyout. But it was sitting at 100k so I thought I’d hit the jack pot. I was willing to spend all my money (albeit a mere 2M) for the car and could believe it when I won the auction for just over 1M.

Instantly, my heart sank as I realised that it was just a standard BRZ.

I tried to see if I could put it straight back on auction but the highest buyout was virtually nothing.

I later read that ‘pro tuners’ can charge whatever they want.

It was my own ignorance but I do feel like there needs to be a change somehow. I’ve lost all enthusiasm for the game now as there is clearly a darker side to it where people are out there Just to scam others.

Anyway. I hope people read this and don’t get caught out like I did.

The thing is tho, there was no one trying to scam you. You said it started at 100k and you won it for a bit over 1m. That implies you got the message that you were outbid several times and returned to the screen that shows the car. They put a regular BRZ up to sell, just cause you thought it was an HE doesn’t mean there’s a “darker side” to the game.

I think his concern is his lack of ability to resell the car for anything near what he paid for it due to the fact he is not a pro tuner/painter, not that he was scammed.

I could be wrong (and very often am), but that is my take on his concern.

I do feel bad that he can’t sell it for as high as the other players who are in the elite/legend status. But they got there for a reason. Shouldn’t buy a BRZ for 1m. If you’re spending that much on a car you know is basically a unicorn right now, you should make sure it’s the right car.

Oops, missed the part where he refers to the scamming. As I said “… and often am”

I take on board what you are saying and I guess ‘scam’ is poor word choice on my part. I never fully read the description clearly and never got back to the car screen to check as I was literally tapping A as fast as I could to rebid as the auction was ‘ending soon’ and like I said was happy to see it go up to 2M.

Maybe I should be asking how you get a car on the ‘featured auctions’. Someone clearly put it up there with the hope that someone stupid like me would see it, think it was the HE and keep bidding on it.

And there was also obviously atleast one other person who thought the Same as me as I was getting outbid.

Anyway. Lesson learnt!

I can see how you could be confused.

Getting on the featured auctions is probably luck as it always seems to be random with a hint of multiple bidding being a factor. Paints and tunes by eite+ players can go into the millions.

You have to pay attention next time. They go for a lot and there’s not a lot of them. I would love to have it, but not for 4+m. Lol

The HE cars are clearly marked by large pink banners. I doubt many people would need to worry about bidding on the wrong car. I never had any trouble seeing them. As long as you can read and see bright colors there shouldn’t be a problem.
