Kudos? What Feature is This?

I’ve read the “Kudos” feature coming to FH5 & it’s description, but had trouble understanding exactly what it does?

Above is the dictionary definition.
In the game your fellow players will be able to give you Kudos as a reward for good driving for example.

Is this the same Kudos system as the Horizon games spiritual predecessor had, Project Gotham Racing?

My understanding is that Kudos works exactly like Overwatch’s endorsement system. It’s something only other players can give you. You’ll get minor rewards for working up your kudos.

I’ve seen a lot of sources praising the system and it being asked for for all sorts of different games, which I find strange and hilarious. As an avid Overwatch player I can tell you, it (sort of) worked for about 3 months and is now ignored by most of the playerbase. I can’t see it being any different in any other game.
