Ken Gushi's GR86 is powered by an FJ Cruiser V6

Ken Gushi’s new ride is quite a unique one. It’s a 2022 Toyota GR86 powered by a Toyota V6. It seems to be working, though, bringing him a Final Four finish in St. Louis and a win in Salt Lake City.

This absolute beast is powered by a Supercharged 4.0L Toyota V6 engine, which can be found in the FJ Cruiser and Tacoma. The car puts out around 1000 HP. Ken says that aftermarket support for these motors isn’t there, so many of the parts were manufactured by Ken and his dedicated team.

The Formula DRIFT GR86 also sports a Pandem Rocket Bunny kit, similar to that of Jhonnattan Castro’s new car. The car sits on white RAYS wheels with NEXEN Tires on all four corners. Under all that is a set of ST Suspensions XTA Plus 3 coilovers.

The overall layout is standard Formula DRIFT stuff. Fuel cell in back, RWD, front engine, and a silly amount of horsepower. Fortunately for Ken, this new car seems to be working out. Gushi sits 7th in points and is the most recent winner in the Formula DRIFT PRO championship.

You can still see the GR86 in action at the final round of Formula DRIFT, at Irwindale Speedway in October.
