I HATE the road (pun intended) that forza have taken the horizon series down. If anybody has played the first ever forza horizon I feel like you know exactly what I’m talking about. I don’t care about all these gimmicky race events. I don’t care about seasons. I don’t care about “emotes” and I sure as hell don’t care about gaining “influence”. All I want to do is drive around a well designed map that has natural drag spots (not one that is in the middle of the horizon even and that leads STRAIGHT off onto grass, what a STUPID place to put a drag strip) and natural drifting location with a bunch of towns/good meeting spots that make for good infected maps. Forza horizon 4 map is truly awful. So sad to see what this once ground breaking series has turned into . I would honestly HAPPILY much rather play forza horizon 1 remastered than these awful games they keep pumping out.
Then, go and do that.
I’m enjoying the hell out of this game alongside plenty of other people. Your loss.
The original Horizon isn’t remastered. If it was I would be.
It’s backward compatible, and X1X enhanced.
It’s hacked to pieces and inactive.
Eh? I have my complaints about the game too, but this is easily the best map we’ve ever had. I don’t understand how anyone can complain about seasons either.
I kinda agree with the drag strip. It should end with a tire wall to stop overshooting, or a really sticky gravel trap or something.
Emotes are dumb I agree, but they’re not getting in the way of it being a good game. Influence is just renamed XP which is fine.
Beggars can’t be choosers.
This is the best map so far. Great roads, beautiful scenery, and so far every race other than the Drags have been a blast. There are a few drag strips, and the others are better than the one at the Festival, though the immediate Go! kinda spoils the events.
While I agree with you the third game sold around 7 million copies, the first around 2 million. Going back to the original formula would kill the series. The success came with the decisions that made it appeal more to the mainstream.
Funny. I think this is the first time since 2012 where Horizon truly felt like Horizon again. The emotes, character customization, Scott Tyler back being the best radio host, the “gimmicks”, the cars, the festival site itself. It all feels like a festival full of real people having fun with cars, y’know, exactly what the Horizon festival is supposed to be. And to say the map is bad is just simply wrong. No good drag locations? I’ll admit the festival one is pretty dumb, but there are alternatives around the map. If you don’t like those, just use the highway. No natural drift spots? Try opening your eyes. Do I even need to bring up the towns and meeting spots point? Edinburgh is the first time I’ve seen Forza tackle a city and pull it off, it’s absolutely astonishing coming off of the heels of Surfer’s Paradise. Not to mention the fact that I can’t make a left turn without find a fun meetup spot or Playground game location. This map is the best one since the first game, there’s no shortage of anything to do here.
I’ve been playing since the first Horizon game and I’ve wanted it to hit that high point again ever since. It finally has.
I’m not saying this game is perfect but I’m legit bamboozled by the amount of people flooding this forum saying the map is awful.
The displeased are often the most vocal.
does anyone have trouble winning races in forza horizon 4? i like forza horizon 3 better but when they fix everything like the driver race difficulties, it will be better than 3. the game has many glitches at the moment, i hope that it is fixed soon?
Even by sheer size alone this map is the best one so far. Plus it is very possible to go straight across the map for a long long time without having to run into as many solid walls as FH3 had. I agree that the actual racing mechanics seem a bit rusty but this game didn’t even start a full week ago now so maybe give it some time perhaps.
The only thing I really dislike about this game is how the multiplayer is set up and the fact that Mitsubishi and Toyota aren’t included, but I realize that isn’t on the devs. Everything else I like about it.
Multiplayer needs some changes.
Look I don’t hate this game. It’s just frustrating that the KEY areas of what makes Horizon different (i.e. Drag spots, drift spots, party games) are all the games biggest weaknesses. What’s more annoying is that they’re such obvious things I just find it so irritating how year after year they fail to improve these areas
You literally opened this thread by saying you hate the direction the game has gone in.
My only pet peeves up to this point are the dirt racing sections are actually not really dirt racing they are mostly on asphalt which doesn’t make a lot of sense. The map(world) seem smaller than 3. I wouldn’t call it the best map but I also won’t say its bad or ruins the game. there seems to be lack of challenge I feel like everything is handed to me instead of having to try for it.certainly not game breakers but I hope they change that in future iterations and don’t continue to on make it feel less challenging.I enjoy the game and think it looks great but already find myself bored with it at times and itching to play older versions so something seems to be missing from the formula.Oh and pc version I wish they made the animations at higher frames because I can’t stand that some of the animations especially the trains look like slideshows when using a refresh above 30hz(for their 30fps)
I agree. Most of my friends are playing FH3 now instead of 4, I rarely (out of my 2 dozen or so forza friends) run into someone else playing. I was actually trying to find daily player numbers for FH3 and FH4 to see if fh4 has surpassed FH3. If it wasn’t for the horrific crashing issues in FH3 I’d only play that. You can’t get what you want, sorry.
I really want to play FH1 now to see for myself how “great” it is… Because, when FH3 was still fresh, people said the same of FH2 and, yes, the map was better than in 3, but everything else was worse, including some of the car sounds!
Not that FH2 is a bad game, mind you, but there were things added in 3 and 4 that make both more convenient to play.
As for FH3, unfortunately it’s the NFS Underground 2 of the franchise. Everyone is gonna keep saying it’s the best despite having more shortcomings than I can list, starting with the PI system.
