Jeep stering wheel on the right side?

yeah… 1997 or 8 jeep was on the high way and well I was passing it and I look to my left and I see that the driving wheel is on the right side and not the left
Now I know it may seam reasonable now a days because of FIAT owning jeep, but this was an old jeep,

so my question is can anyone solve this weird thing for me… because I’m shell shocked and really sleeeaaaappppy right now.

that would be great

Jeeps have been build in RHD for quite some time - even here in Australia it isn’t hard to find a 1997/98 Jeep for sale, or to see them on the roads.

It might have been a POSTAL jeep. Steering wheel’s on the right side.

A friend of mine has a '94 Jeep with the steering wheel on the right side. I’m pretty sure there will be older ones milling about here in the UK - all cars sold here are right hand drive, with the odd exception

I have seen a few TJ’s floating around that are right hand drive. Usually they are conversions, special for mail, but some I have seen a guy just convert it for the heck of it.

Yup. RHD models were built for use as mail trucks in more rural areas of the US.

yeah but the thing was it looked like a normal production jeep than a Postal one.

Actually, last i checked ( a while ago) I believe i saw that you could order a new one RHD still, for postal use. Its a great niche market for Jeep.

wow that is cool (I dont think that driver knows what she is driving then lol)

You can order them at a dealer RHD, you need a code from a post office normally but on ebay some dealers sell them.

Jeep did build the TJ and JK Wrangler and XJ Cherokee as RHD for postal use in North America at a healthy markup from what I understand. I have seen a few conversions on like that added pedals to the passengerside and some sort of belt or chain drive from the original column to a wheel mount blocking the glove box.
