Managed a time of 2:22:730 tonight with an Elite Controller and no assists except braking line. Already in the top 3% in the Americas and the top 4% in the world. Pretty challenging yet fun event if I should say so myself. Hopefully the time will be enough to beat Johniwanna but 1) he is giving his all and 2) I still might go faster. I’ll be happy with the New Year’s Driver Gear and the Escort but will still push for the Civic FE.
So looks like I’ll have to turn in more than 4 laps. My 22.7 may not be good enough. Hopefully I can get the ghosts to work this time.
Remember to watch the replay of the driver you want to follow in order to help the ghost load properly.
This worked for me - first time I’ve had a ghost to chase, so chose Johniwanna himself. I actually got a notification he beat my time, so figure he must have chased me down at some point. So it’s just payback really.
Having his ghost to follow, showed me where he was quicker and where I was getting time back - if he can sort out the last corner, we might be in trouble.
My new PB for now - 2:23.452
Still 3.5+ seconds slower than the top guys, so I think that’s where Johniwanna is coming from when he talks about being an average driver.
Good luck everyone & have fun with it.
Cheers

With his new time, I truly feel bad for the casual people who came into this under a different pretext. Sub 24 is very difficult. I’m still under his time, but I just feel bad because a lot of people were giving a lot of effort based on the fact that it was claimed to be a casual friendly event (based on john’s supposed lack of skill level). However, it appears John is much more talented than he first let on Which is amazing for John, he’s learning a lot! John is now in the top percentiles of lap times.
Before I get hate, understand that this is not an issue for me personally, I just have empathy for other people. If John gets into the top 10%, top 8% whatever, that means 90%+ of the player base will be excluded from the top prize. As worthless as this prize is claimed to be, it could be a lollipop sticker for all anyone cares. You have to abstract it to “fun” points. 90% of the player base will be excluded from those “fun” points. I don’t think you can claim that to be a casual friendly event by any stretch. You also cannot claim that it is inclusive, I don’t think any statistician would say 10% inclusion is “inclusive”.
Just trying to give some perspective so you know where some of the frustration from others is coming from. This isn’t a “everyone gets a trophy” argument, but at 90% exclusion, something is wrong with the event and should be looked at for the next one. Whatever enjoyment that 10% gets from their feelings of superiority (myself included) it doesn’t seem worth it at the cost of the other 90%. It doesn’t make sense from a business perspective or a fun perspective. I also realize I’m using arbitrary percentages, but John is up there new, my guess would be his is actually lower than top 10%. I tried to be conservative in my argument.
Perhaps next time everyone can get the tangible prize but you can put avatars behind different time marks. So the top racers will get a special avatar to display, that will give them bragging rights, but the fun will not be stripped from everyone else, because they will get their avatar based on their best time. Everyone wins, but the top racers still get to brag. Just the first idea that came into my head. I don’t think the current system is fun for the majority, even if it works for me personally.
Of those players who participated in this Rivals event:
- 100% “won a prize”
- 100% had the opportunity to try to beat the Bounty
- 100% had the opportunity to try to improve their gameplay
Of those players who consider competition fun - whether you “win” or not:
- 100% had fun
Of those players who do not consider something to be fun unless you “win”:
- 100% “were excluded” from having fun
Of those players who consider this an opportunity to feel superior:
- 100% need to re-evaluate what is truly meaningful in their lives
Really? Do you really think we would not hear the same complaints?
.
Couple of points.
1/ Please stop using the term “casual player”. Everyone is a casual player - its a game. What you actually mean is “slower players”. It’s OK to say this, its less belittling than the “C” word anyway and many slower players rack up a great deal of playing time. They sometime simply don’t hot lap.
2/ It makes little difference where the bar is set in real terms. Some will clear it, many won’t. Whether in this case it’s a 2:21 or a 2:29 you’ll have players that get the time, the rest won’t. If you think about it logically, everyone gets arguably the better prize for just taking part - that’s cool. But it’s entirely correct that its just the top few percentile that achieves the time. The alternative is that it’s just the bottom few percentile that don’t and that would be extremely demoralising if you were amongst them. Competition by its very nature should be a stretch. The key is to remember that its only a game. If you aren’t playing for fun first and foremost then something’s gone wrong.
Oh man. I thought I was safe on 2:23.9. Not sure I have an extra second in me though if it comes to that.
Dang, was really hoping 23.6 was gonna be good enough. Ain’t looking good now…
Well, we have 13.000 people playing this event worldwide. Forza 7 should have sold over 1 Million copies. There are only 1000 people who can beat this “average” (laugh) driver - it’s less then 1 % of the player base. If John is an average player, this means, that Top 0.1% worldwide is average! And we wonder about curious bussines decisions by T10…
These events are not for the player base, they are for hardcore racers only. I think, most players ignore these events, because they know, that invited bounty-drivers are really good players and most of the casual players will never have a chance to win. These events are hardcore-races for the few who are good enough and have time. Hopefully T10 thinks about this and hands out the Civic by a Forzathon, but that would mean, that Forzathons would work - after 4 months …
I was ahead of him last night but I’m finding it hard to get below 2:24
I don’t know whether to keep going or just give up now. Looking at his ghost I could maybe beat his current time. The problem is he could set an even faster time between now and Tuesday and Wednesday is the one day that I won’t get very long online to try and improve further.
Honestly, i can’t find any more motivation to go back and try to beat him again. There are only a certain number of laps you can do before fun turns into chores. I had him beat for 26. as someone said this was the day he´d set his final time. With him now setting another time and another and another im just bored to keep the chase going. This event is lasting way to long in my opinion. The bounty should have some days of practice, set 1 time, and everyone gets 5 days to beat it, not weeks of back and forth. But that is just my opinion.
Totally down with this. Just like Forzathon, these events are just too long. I don’t see why they can’t run a new bounty every week. There are plenty of people that could set times; heck, I could throw some suggestions their way if they need ideas. I know they seem to have this affinity for making these bounties “special” eg. beating a well-known T10 employee, race driver, etc. but it’s not necessary. Frankly, I care very little about who I’m up against; I just want the prize.
I agree, there is only so many time i can be bothered to go back to this track and car which i both find very boring and slow. It’s great that John keeps bettering his time, but it does now feel like a chore to go back and beat it every time.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this bounty. My final time is in the 2:22’s.
That is something I thought would be impossible for me running no clutch and full sim damage! I probably put in over 100 laps on this track over the course of the event. The faster and slower cars helped keep my concentration level up with the long track and relatively slow fiesta st. I did find that my best times were right after the front tires were yellow and fuel about 1/2 tank left. Most of my stints were only 6 -8 laps in the 24-25 range. ( 27 when traffic came up ) Only 2 laps in the 23’s and just the one in the 22’s on 16-20 lap runs.
Just my opinion but I don’t feel that a locked car should be a prize for a bounty hunter event for beating a top 10% time. This doesn’t promote 90% of the community to want to participate in these events.
I’ve really enjoyed this so far and it has nothing to do with the prizes on offer. I’m not going to mention my lap time (because it’s not really relevant - I’m faster than some and slower than others) but I will say that I’ve managed to shave around 3-4 seconds off of my original attempt. That is progress that I’m happy with, regardless of where on the leaderboards it lands me.
If I have one complaint it’s the endless stock rentals. Oh! for a little bit of tuning. This is mainly because I’m rubbish in stock cars and seldom drive them anywhere else.
As for prizes, I’m not sure what else could be awarded other than cars. Few would bother for a silly race overall.
By the way good job Johniwanna, it is great to see the effort you have put into the event. Solid lap time for you too.
Quite probably done with this event 400 laps 1 broken controller and the best I can manage is a 2 23 997. All be it over the course of the event except a couple of days at the start but no matter what ghost I chase what assists I turn on or off including racing manual I can’t better that time. Thanks for the challenge but way beyond my skill level. Looks like that 700 car achievement will be one I can’t get. Shame so many cars are locked behind walls of some description be it time money or skill. In the UK this game is £50 which for a fair few people myself included isn’t exactly pocket change. Seems like maybe in the effort to provide an extended customer experience they’ve made the overall gaming experience less fun (which is the word people seem to like using) personally I don’t plan on still playing this game in 8 or 9 months when maybe the opportunity to get the 700 cars advertised in game is possible because frankly this game as a whole isn’t that good. The career is short and hardly full of variety. Online play is mostly poor with people not realising cars come with brakes! Or just ignoring that fact completely and the community events are buggy to say the least or as previously started unavailable to people with less time money or skill, and this is without mentions of the other really annoying in game bugs! Forza 6 was good and fh3 was probably one of the best racing based games I’ve ever played it’s a shame this incarnation is lacking on so many fronts.
