Yeah, shifting just before the rev limit but only slightly lift the throttle when I am changing gear so occasionally it will still hit the rev limiter as I change
Member “vanitaspol” understood what I was asking. I did not think the red zone was the same as redline…
HP drops off before the red zone so it’s weird for me that the car does accelerate faster even when entering red.
I usually shift as far away from peak horsepower before it drops off too much, but in some of these cars it makes you shortshift. I didn’t realize I was being slower!
Ah I see what you mean now, either way when power dopps below peak at higher RPMs it doesn’t mean the car won’t accelerate any more as the engine is still making good power. Shift points will vary from car to car and really depend a lot on the gear ratios just as much as the power curve, you need to fit the balance of how far past peak you can go so the next gear starts closer to peak without being too low
In every car you have to push to the limits to have better acceleration and to be the quickest. In this car with stock settings - you have to shift on red. Moreover it’s easier to reduce the gear e.g. from 4 to 2 then from 5 to 2. And remember that gearing always slightly reduces speed.
Besides the other cars on track potentially messing up a lap (which isn’t too hard to avoid since the car rarely breaks the 100 mph trigger for drafting) this is my favorite monthly challenge so far. newgarden was a pro, which was neat, but I didn’t have a chance. The rest have been people who I don’t think play much forza so I ran two laps and was done with it. This one actually took a little effort but I was never demoralized. Hopefully the final time doesn’t change that.
I have to say my confidence was taking a real beating on this event, I’m not the greatest driver but Johnni saying he was an average racer and me running about 3 seconds a lap slower was vexing me, then I realised I had traction control on and that kills you in this car, knocked 4 seconds off my lap time without it!
When I used to play a previous Forza game (forza 4 I think) I loved doing the official monthly bounty hunters. When I bought the last couple of forza games I got so disappointed when I noticed that one didn’t have it at all, and the other had it, but it was hidden behind paywall or only for those who have unlocked something in a previous challenge (= unable to participate for those who recently bought the game). Is this the case for Forza 7? Or is it the same as Forza 4 where I could race monthly bounty hunters pretty much every month.
Its accessible for everyone, only rental cars are being used, so you don’t even need to own the car. The ongoing bounty is ending at 31st, so you can still set your time. Just go to rivals, featured events, there its the second event. Good luck
Alight, I’m finally in the 2:23s 2:23.75. I have another second that I can put together if I get it all right with traffic getting in the way. That RX-8 is such a jerk.
I am really over how the other cars cannot find the cajones to pass the slow cars forever but they will try and pass me aggressively. Drivatars, go figure!
I will set my final lap by EOD Jan. 30 as my original post says. I had a busy weekend so I didn’t get in any laps until today. IO think my session is dated for Friday when I rage quit. When I restarted my game today that session was still going.
For me this is a really fun event, I’m really enjoying understanding Mugello and knowing what the ST can do given a proper line. My biggest learnings tonight are to go wide on the entry to turn 1, and use the curb to get angle on the tight turns.
I hope you are all still having fun chasing me or reveling in my destruction. Cheers folks. See you at Mugello.
To be honest l haven’t expected you breaking into the 2.23s . That, combined with your announcement to shave off another second, turns out to be a real tough challenge. I really appreciate that you put so much effort into “your” event and that you really try to give all your best. Even I am sure that I won’t be able to keep up with your final time, it is a great bhc and it also is great to be forced to improve and to learn.
My honest respect.
And now we are waiting for the incoming complaints about you are being too quick. 3…2…1.
