That’s a standard XKR from what I can find.

The only mention I can find from Jaguar is two VINS:

• X701 KRW which was a chassis development prototype that went missing in 2003

• X100 SVO which is owned by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust and is the one pictured below

I can’t see any actual mention of a Convertible, only notes on the Coupé

Check Wikipedia they have info on the convertible

I have and the only source they list for their information is this which shows the Coupé

This is from Wikipedia

XKR-R concept

[edit]

Jaguar XKR-R convertible

A concept car called the XKR-R which was very similar to the production XKR was produced in 2001 as a test bed for future Jaguar models. It boasted a more powerful 336 kW (451 hp) engine, a limited-slip differential, a 6-speed manual transmission and improved handling along with visual differences from a standard XKR which include a larger rear spoiler, a quad-pipe exhaust system, a fully functional front grille and larger five spoke alloy wheels. Two cars were made, an open top show car to be shown to the public and a functional test car having a coupé bodystyle. The test car featured a similar carbon fibre trim interior as the show car but had Recaro racing bucket seats with six point harness. Motoring journalist Tiff Needel tested the XKR-R test car in 2001 in an episode of Top Gear.[16]

They have no sources for that information or the picture, from what I can find that’s just a picture of an early X100 Convertible and not the XKR-R.

I’ve run the two VINs for the XKR-R and got these results:

The Coupé is confirmed as X100 SVO and it’s still registered according to the British Government:

The other prototype is X701 KRW and according to the British Government it isn’t registered on their system at all so it’s likely been destroyed:

https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/VehicleNotFound?locale=en

It says the convertible is a show car so it exists

According to the British Government it doesn’t and I’m going to believe them more than a Wikipedia article with no sources.

I have seen no images on google when typing XKR-R Convertible so what did they do with the show car is it not in a museum or something

I don’t think that’s actually an XKR-R or if it was then it’s been destroyed or just lost somewhere.

When looking at that image the only thing it brings up is the pre-facelift XKR Convertible so I assume it’s just one of those in a museum somewhere, doesn’t look any different on the outside atleast to a 2003 model like this.

Its funny since Wikipedia says there was a XKR-R Convertible so maybe they havent updated the information and now it no longer exists

I wouldn’t be surprised, I’ve also searched Google for a convertible and can’t find anything.

I’ve tried to find old interviews and videos as apparently both prototypes were used in testing but I can only find ones about people driving a Coupé.
