Is your game saying unavailable? Info inside...

Right guys, some of you are having issues with the game saying unavailable. If like my friend you live in one region, but bought the game from another regions store, or changed your region, the game will NOT work.
Xbox support today told my friend that they are tightening up region control on the Xbox one, so if you try and change region to play a game early, or buy from a region other than your own, the game will not work. It will simply say unavailable. Physical copies are region free, but digital isn’t, and they are clamping down on people trying to avoid release dates.

My physical copy will turn up in a few days and, those of you who tried to jump the gun will have to wait alongside me.

If you live in the US and it’s not working, it may simply be down to server load, and give it a day or two to settle down. I know, waiting, it sucks right? Well most of us are doing that anyway, so don’t act like it’s the end of the world. Go to work/pub/dog for a walk, come back and try again. Yes Microsoft really should have these launches working fine by now, but hey, big business will also spend the least amount of money to make the most amount of money. This is one of those instances where the infrastructure can’t support the load. Just wait a bit and all will be good. Go out and do something for a bit, prank your friends, bake your mom a cake, who knows, but sitting there staring at it won’t make it go any faster!

If all else fails, delete the game install files, and do a hard reset, BEFORE trying to redownload the game.

Is this really your friend or some other guys friend who said this?

I find it hard to believe that they would let you purchase the game, but then add restrictions to it later after your purchase. It would be
really simple for MS to simply not allow you to register a foreign adress at all (like on the 360).

Sorry for questioning it but I could download the game, and lots of other people. Not sure why they would restrict it for a very few players only.

This is nonsense. I bought the game from the US and live in the UK and it worked fine.

Or did you buy it digitally? I’m confused, but the above may answer your question.

Well that pretty much sums up everything. Looks like I’m waiting until the 3rd.

Lentini, if you got around it, you are the exception not the rule. We spoke to MS this morning, and that was the line we were given. So you can blame MS if that’s wrong. However, I think they’d be in the best position to know, and you’ve also just outed yourself on a public forum for circumventing the regional DRM if that’s what you’ve done.

Wow you make it sound like MS does not know how to lock people out from the US store.
I believe they just told you some BS rather than the truth since lots of people bought it from the
US store even though they live in Europe with no problems (except the 3 hour unavailable mess in the beginning).

Nobody is circumventing anything… relax man.

Outed myself?!?! LOL

Outed yourself as in let it be known that you circumvented Microsoft’s regional DRM, if that’s what you did.
I was not making a cheap joke at the expense of the LGBTQ community as you seem to be doing…
