Is the DLC season for this game already over?

The car pass has now ended, which I really enjoyed. But I can’t help but notice that this game has been out for quite some time now and there’s only been 3 DLC car packs, one of which came with the game at launch.

I know we still have another expansion coming, but as for car packs, is it already over? I thought the game would have the car pass alongside dlc packs for cars, I didn’t think the car pass was made to replace dlc packs.

Historically the Car Pass has provided DLC at a discount, in FH3 and FM7 it was in the form of car packs, for FH4 it was 42 cars, 2 a week, and was advertised as such.

Any additional car packs were more than likely not planned as part of the Car Pass and in this case, yes the Car Pass was made to replace DLC car packs.

We’re gettin drip fed cars now via the seasonal playlists.

The Car Pass under its current format gives you the exact same number of cars as the previous one did that included monthly car packs. The first car pack in the DLC life of Horizon 3 that was not part of the Horizon 3 Car Pass or a pack given to everyone at game launch was not released until mid-April of 2017. So we’re running right on basically the same schedule as we did in Horizon 3 as far as DLC cars go … just in a different format.

They’ve pretty much abandoned Fortune Island and haven’t said a word about car packs, i’m not getting my hopes up.

They’ve pretty much given Fortune Island the support the expansions usually get - they released it. And the Car Pass has been fulfilled, so there’s nothing that really needs to be said about further car releases. The important thing that we’ll hopefully be hearing about soon is the second expansion. Anything beyond that is just bonus.

The ferry to Fortune Island went missing a while back. Search has been called off; hopes of finding survivors fade.

Tbh, I’m a little suspicious about the upcoming expansion. I feel like it could possibly be an enclosed track based expansion but with tiny hills and stuff on the inside. Sort of like a derby type thing. What’s telling me this is due to all of the random fast cars being added along with several trucks and the monster truck type Regalia Type-D. Plus, I’ve been seeing how things have been getting more and more competitive recently. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an enclosed track based expansion due to all of this ramming and stuff, but I’d love to be proven wrong. I don’t like it when games become too predictable. It kind of makes it feel like you’re in a maze, but the maze is only just a straight path to the exit and it never changes. Please do prove me wrong Devs as well as anyone else. I love new challenges and love diversity in video games.

I don’t expect anything like that at all. They’ve never done anything like that before with their expansions and it wouldn’t fit into the open-world ‘theme’ that Horizon is built around.

They need to start doing car packs for dlc to keep the game going until 2021.

They’ve never supported any Forza games with continuing DLC content into the third year after release. Don’t expect that to happen.

Isn’t multi year support kind of in the air right now because of them abandoning the 2 year release strategy?

Guess we really don’t know … that is true. To my knowledge, the only official statement about no more two year cycle to this point has specifically referred to the Motorsport series. They’ve not said anything similar officially for the Horizon series. I still personally think extending DLC content to three years is a bit of a stretch no matter what their strategy is moving forward. To date, DLC support on their games typically lasts about a year. Guess we’ll see.

Horizon 4 needs some new life pumped into it!

The 2nd expansion is due soon

They have been putting new cars in as rewards in the playlist that would normally be paid dlc

I mean yeah. I don’t exactly understand people’s desire to get more paid content when they’re getting it free at the moment. I dislike Games As A Service as much as any sane person who values their time does, but putting new cars as season rewards makes sense especially for players who don’t really need any more wheelspins or money.

I’d be happy to buy more DLC packs. If they actually contained a lot of cars that I’m interested in.
