Is Microsoft XBOX 360 Wireless Wheel still supported?

I have this for my setup since Forza 2 in XBOX 360 and a couple of months back, it stopped working. Possibly coincide with the spring update but I can’t be sure as I have stopped playing for quite a while due to new family additions. I was pretty sure that it was still working some time last year as I was still playing with my oldest son in Forza 3. When I encountered this earlier this year, I just turned off the game and hasn’t touch it since.

Yesterday, I was able to race in Forza 3 with full of support of the force feedback wheel. After a couple of race, I lost the force feedback, so I unplug the power to the wheel and reconnect. The issue of the wheel not being recognized by the game returns. The weird thing is… Only the XBOX button on the wheel works which brings up the menu but no other buttons nor long press of the XBOX button would work. D-Pads included. The wheel works just fine to navigate XBOX Dashboard.

Anyone has experienced this or can pinpoint me on how to fix? I have done the following to no avail:

  • Delete system cache.
  • Delete all Forza 3 Data but not my game save.
  • Moved my game save to the cloud and start Forza 3 game without signing in (thus no game save and Live).
  • Uninstall Forza 3 from my HDD.
  • Run Forza 3 off the disc.
  • Download Forza 4 Demo for good measure.
  • Force system update to reinstall latest firmware.

I think I have done pretty much everything short of factory reset/format HDD of my XBOX 360. I wonder if this is a known issue before I try the extreme of factory reset because I don’t want to redownload all my stuff in the HDD. If it matters, my XBOX 360 is the fat white one with HDMI; possibly first gen that comes with the HDMI.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Mine works fine on h1 ,f3and f4

I wiped clean my 360 by reformatted the HDD, reran the Initial Setup, and force update latest XBOX Live Update. Dashboard version: 2.0.16767.0 which I believe is the latest as of September 4th, 2014.

With all that I still seeing the issue of my steering wheel working perfectly on the dashboard but once Forza 3 is running, only the XBOX button’s press would work. None of the other buttons.

Anyone?

I found the solution. Yes, I do still have this problem but here’s the workaround:

  • Don’t use the AC adapter for the wheel. Instead, use the battery pack.
  • Start the game.
  • Once in the game and controller works, plug the AC adapter back.

Been working for me now. Just in case anyone else come across this issue. Now, let me get back to racing…
