The Paddock will be hosting a replica 2 Hours at Sebring, IMSA Camel GT at 9PM EST on Saturday the 22nd of March. Practices will be held Friday starting at 8 PM EST.
For those of you who are not familiar with IMSA’s past, during the 70s, 80s, and early 90s, IMSA was the premier GT and Prototype racing series in North America and produced some iconic vehicles and was the jumping point for a great deal of new technology that is still being utilized today (including traction control). We at The Paddock have done the best we can with the tools given to us by Turn 10 to replicate the golden age of American motorsports.
Camel GT had two classes, each with two sub classes. In GT, there was the GTO and GTU spec based on vehicle weight, engine size, type, and aspiration. GTP consisted of the Unlimited class and the Camel Lights, again based on weight, engine size, type, and aspiration. Unfortunately, we are unable to adhere directly to the guidelines, but a great deal of time has gone into balancing the vehicles to create close, multi-class racing.
While we are reserving Camel Lights for races where it just isn’t save to run GT and GTP together (Infineon for example), GTP will utilize a pair of late 90s GT1 spec vehicles that closely resemble the look and speed of the GTP Unlimited field.
