I only want pictures in ONLINE mode?

TURN 10, please place a photo in ONLINE mode in order to record the meetings with friends !!!

Help friends there !! let’s join forces to come in an update with photos ONLINE …

The reason why its not there is because photo mode pauses the game for the person going into photo mode but it can not pause the game for all online participants.

It is a technical reason not out of choice.

The trick with an online photo mode is for the developers to find a way to allow the user to freeze gameplay in a multiplayer mode that purposefully plays out in real time and is intended to not be paused. Whereas capturing photos from replays on Forza Motorsport is feasible because a replay file can be saved to capture the first several minutes of the online gameplay event, what you are likely looking for is a photo mode that can accessed at any particular time during a free roam session - a feat that is not easily accomplished as accumulated data over a relatively short amount of time can easily become an extremely large file.

I’m all for an online photo mode, but the aforementioned is the reason I would not hold my breath for such a feature to arrive anytime soon.

Agreed. That and some form of a replay system. But it won’t happen. Don’t get your hopes up. There are probably a lot of complications involving it and with what could be added, it isn’t actually a necessity. Being able to take pictures/video in such a way while the background is moving and keeping up the appearance would be a bit difficult and demanding.

Seeing as our responses all agree on the technical hurdles associated with an online photo mode, perhaps Turn 10 and Playground Games could devise a single player system that allows us to artificially create a scene by plotting vehicles (customization and liveries included, if desired) within the world which surrounds our vehicle - something reminiscent to what may be used during promotional captures.

They could have it not pause the game, like with the map. It’d still be useless in races, but we’d be able to take group shots in freeroam and stuff.

It might work at car meets but at the moment the cars are just one line. I suspect people may want to arrange the cars a certain way.

So maybe have a free roam within a car lot and then when the cars are organised each person can choose to take a photo. It is up to us to make sure the cars are not moving.

Horizon 2 - Wish List

You would think that would work, but unfortunately it is easier said than done. When we take photos in single player mode, the photo feature becomes a faked “photo” process in that we are merely manipulating the gameplay camera around a world which is the actual current state of our live gameplay, only paused - nothing is changing in the scene and the data is stagnate until we leave the pause menu and return to gameplay.

This is to say that the single player photo mode is actually a live in-game rendering and any attempt to replicate this same process in multiplayer is (currently) impossible because, in multiplayer, the data never freezes for any one player in order to ensure everyone’s gameplay is synced as best as can be. This is why it has always been possible to save replays in Forza Motorsport in order to capture photos because we can then, after the fact, truly freeze the data and capture a photo.

To simplify: single player photo mode is live gameplay - just frozen. In multiplayer, there is no such thing as freezing live gameplay.

Seemingly the only hope for multiplayer photo modes (across any genre of games) is with a live camera feature where we can press a button (RB for example) to save a live image to our hard drive (otherwise known in the computer world as a screen capture) or for storage space to become easier to come by so that full multiplayer session data can be wholly saved and retrieved later for after the fact photo taking.
