Hi guys,
So Forza Horizon 4 is well on the way and we’ve all seen the epic launch trailer starring the McLaren Senna. I work as a motoring journalist road testing new cars and, to be honest, most of the time its stuff like the new Ford Focus or other such everyday machinery – but every now and then the keys to something awesome lands on my desk… I can only start talking about this today as the embargo has now lifted, but a few weeks ago I drove the McLaren Senna. I thought you guys might want to know a little of what McLaren’s latest addition to its Ultimate Series is like.
Let’s get the obvious thing out of the way. Yes, it’s fast. 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds, 0-124mph in 6.8. You are sucked back into your seat as the 789bhp 4.0-litre V8 engine goes to work. The relentless torque means that the car shows no sign of slowing, even when approaching 180mph.
More impressive are its brakes. These next-gen carbon ceramic discs take 7 months each to manufacturer, but run 150 degrees cooler than regular carbon discs. Hit the brakes hard and the car can generate 2.1G and stop from 124mph in less than 100 metres!
The car’s agility has to be experienced to be believed, too. A combination of Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R and direct steering results in immediate responses to inputs. It’s a very communicative car. Unlike many modern supercars the Senna is continuously sending feedback to the driver. Push hard and the 800kg of downforces comes into play.
It really is an astonishing machine! I shot a video with the car at the Estoril F1 circuit if you guys want to check it out: https://youtu.be/wOhoghCO3Ts
My full written reviews of the car will be appearing in a few publications, so keep an eye out!
Hopefully FH4 makes the Senna as impressive as it is in real life.
