HOW TO: Leaderboard & Hot lap!

For those of you who love to go out and compete in the leaderboards, it may seem as if all is lost compared to FORZA 6. As we are currently are missing a hopper for specific leaderboard, you can still throw down times for the desired cars you wish to throw down with. Keep in mind leaderboards have changed in terms of upgrades you can use ETC.

For example, a NASCAR has a performance rating of 833 (R). In Forza 6 you could add upgrades to the NASCAR bringing it to a performance rating of 900 (R) and still be able to Hot lap the division. Now, in FORZA 7 you can no longer do this. In order to stay in the NASCAR division your car cannot pass the performance rating of 833 (R). Please note this applies to all categories of cars. each one will have a restriction requirement in which you need to stay within. You are permitted to make your own specific tunes too.

So how do you hot lap, and where should I go?
------ Simple, go to the “Free Play”. From there you can choose the track and its variant you wish to tackle. While looking at the track variants you will notice to the bottom right the option for “Leaderboards”. You will be able to view the top times and see where you match up there. You WILL NOT be able to choose a ghost like we have in the past (as of now). once you have selected a track, go ahead and set it up “Time” or “Circuit” it does not matter. You can choose to run the times with a stock tune or begin to build a tune right there. As soon as you cross the line to end the race near the bottom right you will see the option again to see the leaderboard. If you want to keep going then simply “restart” your race and keep going.

Hope this helps!

How do I chase ghost. If I can’t, there isn’t hothe laping. I’m just racing with with nobody.

You can turn your ghost on in settings. When you set a personal best it will begin to race around the track for you to chase during free play. Otherwise only your out lap will be seen.

This rarely works as designed.

If you set a pb and run something slower in a new race, your PB lap ghost doesn’t show up. All that shows up is your ghost from lap 1 of the new race.

Very good info, thanks!

Yeah I have been doing this for a while to practice driving with a wheel. I choose one AI driver to use as a marker and make sure AI level is set high. Only problem is if you want to change cars to a different division than you started in, you have to back right out to Free Play on the menu and start again… it’s nice that you can choose the track, time of day etc.

Question: When I race a specific ‘‘freeplay’’ track and submit a time with the fastest car in the game, does that then mean the leaderboard for that track is effectively spent ? Or are their multiple freeplay leaderboards for each track?

There is a leaderboard for every homolagation category

As others have stated you can make arrangements though your setting to help accommodate you. As far as everyone’s answers provided to those of you that have asked question they all seem to be accurate.

good Luck and keep asking questions

Despite this is a reasonably option, they need to add regular leaderborads for each division and make possible to hotlap in rivals…

I allso miss the option to go straight to rivals/hotlap from the leaderboard that was in at least one of the previous Forza games.. possibly Forza5 (but I’m not a hundred percent sure)

Proper leaderboards are coming for each homologation category. In the meantime this is a great workaround that a lot of people used even in forza 6 because the ghost never disappears.

Any chance of a source on this? Would be very happy if that was the case but other than the vague comments we have heard about changes to hoppers and rivals in the near future I have not yet read anything to suggest that they are moving all of the homologated leaderboards to Rivals. Really hoping you are right though!

i cant seem to import tunes from forza 6 to 7

Yeah I miss putting in a pb lap in one class eg s , then trying to beat that ghost time in another s class , and that way would help.me see what cars are better in corners or straights thus helping me choose diff cars for diff tracks , also the sub menu division In The leader boards , I use to select a car and see where it stood in that car division , can’t do that anymore ,when in forza seven they have now separated cars into loads of sub divisions but have not implemented them into leaderboard times, I think forza 7 layout is poor and gone backwards , I would like to see a personal leaderboard for tracks as well say it remembered your top 10 times per track so you could see what cars you you and have this available in a tab on multiplayer so you could see what your best car is for the upcoming multiplayer race , I can’t remember what cars are best for what track so I tend to just choose the same two or three which I get bored of after a while

Yes,absolutely

Yea they def need to fix the leaderboards and do it by class. Not the divisions or whatever they are doing now. A class, B class, C class… ifnit isn’t broke don’t fix it for god sake…

Dude… THANK YOU! I was getting so pissed that I couldnt find times to compare my tunes to… which would result in me just taking the tunes online and getting spanked
