I have to admit that Iām such a plonker I usually just shift by feel and by ear. I spent a couple of months on the drag strip in FM4 and learned a crate load about precise shifting and extracting an engineās potential, but the reality is thereās usually far more pressing concerns on a circuit than keeping an eye on the HUD for exact shift cues. At least for us mere humans.
Didnāt want to open another thread so I figured Iād just post here since my question is similar. Does torque not matter at all when shifting? I lose a lot of torque in my Eclipse past around 6k but the horsepower doesnāt really drop off until right before redline. Iām able to manage pretty steady horsepower when upshifting but the torque drops about 50lb/ft when I shift.
