How does the credits (amount) on race completion work?

Hi there,

How does the credits (amount) on race completion work?
For earning credits I have been doing about 120km races which is almost 2 pits stops and about 25laps on most tracks.

I usually get 110k for a win base. Am wondering how does the credit scoring system work? 10k/10km? Or something similar in miles. Do you get less if you don’t come first. I came third in race and still got 100k I think.

120km is about 75miles FYI.

You may want to grab a snack before starting this explanation. I was curious about this myself, and had way tooooo much time on my hands this weekend!

What I have found so far: each course a set credit amount per lap. It’s not based strictly on mileage apparently, because 1 lap around Rio Mountain circuit (1.01 miles) with 0 Drivatars and any Drivatar Difficulty, will net you 1000 credits and 1000 SP. However, 1 Lap on Homestead Oval (1.5 miles) only nets you 810 credits and 810 SP. It appears that each track has a baseline that is not solely based on track length. You will have to do some experimenting to determine the best “Lap per Track” payout.

Racing with assist has no effect on SP or credits. This includes limiting drivatar aggression. SP per Lap remains constant (and equal to credit payout per lap) unless you use Mods.
(Base SP per lap X number of laps) X Mod card percentage, if used = Total SP for the race.

Credit payouts are effected by several things:

  1. The higher number of Drivatars in the race increases the race purse or payout. For Rio Mountain, 1 drivatar equals the 1000 credit payout, while a full 24-car field (23 drivatars and you) will payout a potential 1700 credits per lap. Not sure if the 70% increase remains constant across all tracks.
  2. Where you finish in the race determines what percentage of the total purse you receive. Obviously, finishing first at Rio Mountain 1 Lap race will pay 1700 credits (100%). Finishing 24th will get you 310 credits. 12th place seems to be the baseline, as you get the same 1000 credit payout as racing alone or with 1 drivatar. Regardless of how many drivatar you choose, you want to finish above the middle position to get more than the baseline payout.
These two factors determine your base credit payout (the amount in the top block when you are receiving your post race rewards).
  3. Drivatar Difficulty is then applied to base credit payout. Above Average = 20% up to Unbeatable = 100%. This is the second block in your race payout screen and only shows up if you are running at Above Average difficulty or higher.
  4. Next, any Mod Card credit bonus is added. Total base payout X cumulative percentage from all 3 Mod cards, as applicable.
  5. Last is the Forza Edition Car Bonus if you used an FE car. Example: Ford Sierra Cosworth FE = 50% credit bonus to base pay out.

To sum it up: Finish 1st in a 1 lap race in the Cosworth FE on Rio Mountain circuit with 23 drivatars and drivatar difficulty set to set to Above Average. No Mods.
Your payout should be 2890 credits and 1000 SP.
Hope this helps and sorry for the long explanation, I am writing from memory and not at the Xbox now. If anyone finds any discrepancies, let me know. Also, not sure if weather or night effects payouts. EDIT - Rain and Night appear to have no effect on payout.

When I race free play, I run drivertar at unbeatable and always ghosted. I make sure I have 3 mods selected at all time( besides the PASS mods). I net between 50k-100k for a 10min races.
I run tracks that I enjoy or a car I’m testing, instead of chasing credits

Good for you but that doesn’t even start to answer the OP’s question, does it?

#2: Payout for Unbeatable is +100 %.

Interesting finding that it differs from track to track.

Good catch. I’ll edit my post. Thanks!

Does ghosting only appear for your current best lap or all time best? Seems not worth it on such short races if it’s current best as only worth looking at on 3rd lap.

The only way I can see you getting close to 100k in a 10min race is using high 850-900+ PI cars. 50-70k sounds more likely. No pass mods? Can you put it on unbeatable work no drivatars or something?

Thanks for the explanation, They have probably decided on an average track length and given that a certain number of credits. However I have been doing pretty much 12X in races in freeroam which take a bit under an hour in FE cars on their respective bonus trackd and pretty much always get exactly 110k credits. Not sure why.
