How do we know tire wear?

If you have any official race car or buy race tires for any car you can put on soft medium or hard tires. But there is no way to tell while you’re racing what condition those tires are in. The tire indicator only shows tire temperature and not wear. At least as far as I can tell. I definitely could tell with soft tires by the 7th lap they were starting to go but I had no indication of this. What’s the point of giving these tire choices if we have no idea what condition they’re in?!?

If there is a way to tell from the telemetry or otherwise, please direct me how to figure that out. Thank you.

Next to the tire temp indicators in the bottom right HUD, there are small little bars that indicate wear percentage as well. I believe they also change color once wear is significant.

Thanks Alex I’ll look for that. They must be pretty tiny I didn’t even see them or maybe I ignored them. I will check again…

Okay I think I see what you’re talking about. They are very thin tiny vertical lines just outside of each tire. I did not see those change at all while I was racing but definitely the tires were starting to go off as the car was pushing in the corners and lap times were dropping.

So Alex is quite right. There are tiny little vertical bars that show tire wear. The reason I didn’t notice them before is my tires were basically shot. Soft tires are only good for about five laps of a medium sized track. If you’re going to go more than that I suggest mediums.

There is actually a tire wear indicator, but it is very illegible. Tire temperature is equally unclear and unrealistic. A useless gadget and they apparently spent so much time designing tires.

That’s one thing I wondering too?

FM7 had great telemetry features that was a great help while setting car up.

  • you could get real big number with pressure and temp on screen
  • I felt that was really well made

Is this yet a thing missing right now, or?

Even this thing mentioned in early access stream by Esaki, I think, was that tires beside speedometer were having 3 sections to see temp various parts oif tire.

  • this tiny symbols for tires, are they having 3 segments?

Anything suggesting a hud editor like in PC2?

There is full telemetry. I think the default is down in the d-pad.

And yes, those tiny little symbols are for the tires. If you’re playing on a computer monitor it’s probably about three pixels.

We’ve never had a HUD editor and I don’t expect we ever will.
