I honestly haven’t played fh5 in quite some time. Yes I’m looking forward to the dlc. I trying to keep an open mind for it but really I don’t hold out much hope. I feel fh5 was a flop. I hope FM8 will be worth the wait. I won’t be preordering that like I did fh5…
We already have a giant map with like 3 decent drift spots. Hot wheels was the worst expansion in series history and here we are doing it again. If we wanted to play hot wheels we would play the very good game they just released.
The more I think about it the more intrigued I get. Its a new challenge, at least for myself. I brought up the tuning aspect of the game because for those of us who played FH3 HW, you cannot tune the cars the same for HW slippery surfaces as you do for the mainland. Its gonna be a whole new ballgame, then we dont know how many HW tire compounds that will be added.
Hopefully I figure it out quicker than I did the mainland setups.
200km of track. That’s pretty massive.
“Do you believe this expansion will be successful?”
Define “successful”
Is it going to sell ? Yes. I think the discounted Premium content offers just launched are a (desperate ? calculated certainly) plan to get more downloads of the Expansion. They’ll be able to say “Look at all the downloads and play of the Hot Wheels Expansion ! SUCCESS !”
Not saying it’s a bad thing, necessarily, but it doesn’t inspire confidence in quality of the product itself, imo, and not saying it won’t be a quality product, but…
More than enough to keep us busy finding all the “roads,” which is what I will do first before I start knocking out the race list. Something tells we’re gonna get a new race type. Not Road or Dirt or Cross Country but something brand new…I think lol.
@Not_Here_Too is exactly right. They knew people were gonna feel a certain way about HW 2.0 but its probably gonna improve on the original with how much “magic” they can perform with new console limitations.
As long as it is not too buggy.
I hope it will be tons of fun.
My first experience of driving a loop in FH3 HW was awesome.
Fingers crossed, there will be some talented members of the community who can create some brilliant event labs tracks. And on the main map too.
Let the fun begin.
There are some cool possibilities for eventlab tracks with the different track types included. There’s magnetic, ice, rumble and water plume track pieces so people should be able to come up with some inventive concepts.
My first track will be all ice, so I hope you enjoy sliding.
Oh man! I just had a nice laugh to myself! Thinking that wall penalties will probably be carried over into the expansion. FH3 had no wall penalty! That was exclusively new to FH4. This is gonna be fun and funny lol.
It’s gotta be better than LEGO Racing …
tbh i’m disappointed with this copy/paste DLC as i was hoping for something new (like an actual city to race in). at this point i have come to the conclusion that the devs really don’t care about the players and the fan base. a rehash of old concepts is hardly “groundbreaking” or “revolutionary”.
I’m also looking forward to what users come up with in event labs. Especially now that the new track pieces apparently snap into place which should make creators life easier so that they can focus on you know creating…
No grip, no barriers, fall off track with normal racing. Rammers will love it.
Found roads, cars, ran a few more races than Lego.
Bought it so no choice. If it’s buggy, or they don’t fix some more regular game bugs, I’m done.
@Sfumato720 Oh yeah that’s right. Some areas will have no walls, gonna have to learn the layout quick. A few of the downward swirl areas you could barrel roll down to the lower level to gain a few seconds on the others but it’s very risky. Very very risky if you don’t time it just right!
If anyone so happens to scratch my gold cars then I will personally show them where each of these areas are
I’m prepared to give it a chance beer permitting of course, that’s all I can say for now.
Please stop giving us this rubbish. Make it a separate game or something. I don’t want it in my FH world #grumpyoldman
Its better than the LEGO one.
I would have preferred something like a BAJA DLC. Being that it fits the theme and local. But that would be too on point and actually involve motorsports in some way for PG. So I really have no hope for something like that coming.
I really enjoyed the HW expansion of FH3. I have my complaints about it being recycled, but it’s still a better experience than Lego or Minecraft (or any other ridiculous IP).
My only complaint is the car list.
Compared to FH3’s HW expansion, the car list is less HW-like, and the only interesting new HW car added to the game is Deora 2.
FH3’s HW expansion added cars that were more emblematic of HW, and even models that had nothing to do with HW had more personality.
But not so this time, it is full of similar hypercars, supercars, and variants of existing models.
Then there is the Baja Bone Shaker; Mattel has created several Bone Shakers in the real world. I assumed this car would be one of those, but apparently this car does not exist in reality.
The collaboration with HW started with FM6, but so far they have only added HW models that exist in the real world to the game, except for the 3 real cars in the “HW Edition” of FM7.
That they have broken this rule this time is controversial. But my personal disappointment is that what they have added to the game after breaking their own rule is yet another Bone Shaker.
There were many better candidates for HW that didn’t exist in the real world; the Rodger Dodger is still one of the most popular and legendary classics today.
Japanese culture style Models like Mad Manga and Time Attaxi are among the current favorites, reflecting today’s HW trends.
If only one of these models had replaced other cars, the expansion’s car list would have been more HW-like.
Supercars and variants of existing models.
This is a trend seen in many of the FH5 addition cars. It is a shame that even the expansion got caught up in this rule.
HW in particular is a popular IP with a long history and many iconic models…
I stopped playing FH5 after the first month since for me it was just a repeat of FH4 where they largely picked the worst aspects of the previous game to focus on (games as a service, weekly chores, time locked cars, spectacle over substance, etc) and I was just burned out on the whole thing. This “new” expansion just solidifies my view that Horizon is no longer a franchise for me as I didn’t enjoy the giant orange physics defying madness in FH3, and now we’ve got what feels like a lazy copy paste of an expansion I didn’t enjoy the first time around.
That’s a long way of saying this expansion won’t be getting me to come back to FH5 and I certainly won’t be buying it.
