Hot Wheels Expansion May 9

Amen to you good brother. They dont wanna take the time to figure out the layout of the area. Some cars hug better and some have no grip at all. I havent even played online yet, I’m gonna completely finish the single player goals first (95% so far), by the time i’m done i’ll be quite familiar with the races

Not all of them are.

In my case I have accomplished well over 60% of the achievements and 70% of the medals in a very short time. Most of the activities are extremely easy, especially the Bucket List events and all of the stunts (danger zone, drifts, etc). I am usually not much of a drifter, but I got all but one on the first try, while the other one took but two tries.

I am still not overly impressed with this expansion. For the most part I feel like I am navigating a roller coaster at an amusement park. I very much prefer Blizzard Mountain.

If people are looking for a good tune for the final Hot Wheels Goliath race, I shared one for the Lamborghini Centenario. After several attempts with power builds, grip builds and just plain stock I finally found one that works excellent. I won my very first attempt with this build with ease, that is with all assists off (except normal steering), rewind off and racing line off so it should definitely work for everybody.

It’s under my gamer tag “breyzipp” and the tune is called “HW Goliath”.

I’m really looking forward to trying some races. So far in a few plays of HW all I’ve done is go exploring and do some PR stunts. I imagine it’ll take some getting used to but always good to spice things up a bit. Let’s face it most of us by now have the techniques required to be successful for the main map races.

Once you finish the goliath race and unlock championships the fun really starts.

I recommend doing the following :

  • Just play the Horizon presents championships so you get to drive some of the lesser popular car classes as well.
  • Pick a car that is ideally C-class but high D or low B might work as well, it depends a bit on the track.
  • Assists off if they weren’t already
  • Cockpit view camera ONLY!

This gives a much better immersive driving feeling, especially the cockpit camera in combination with the slower cars. Many of the elevations become quite challenging as well and IMO it requires a bit more skill to actually shift gears at the right moment rather than just having a way-too-powerful S2 class.

Ooh and the AI is hilarious at times!

Interesting thread this. Some saying FH3 is not meant to be taken seriously and others saying use cockpit view.

I wonder why that is…

I wonder why indeed. The arrogance and ignorance of some people here is quite astounding.

What gets me is they keep saying FH3 is arcade and FM6 or FM5 is not but is for serious racing, there is not that much of difference race wise, one is Track based and one is open world, the open world one is harder to play due to the fact you have to win most races, unlike FM5 of FM6 where you just have to place in the top 3 to progress to next race.

The only real difference between the Motorsport and Horizon series is the tyre physics. In Horizon they are a bit more forgiving but everything else is the same. Horizon is still a sim, whether people want to admit it or not. Burnout is arcade. NFS is arcade. Forza isn’t.

It is an ongoing argument, sim vs arcade.

I would say it is maybe 80% sim based on the realistic graphics, the realistic roads, the ability to customize, the fact you can be in a club or run a club and events, you can do racing as if you were involved in motorsport at an amatuer level, you can just hang out at a carpark with friends and take turns doing burnouts, or just cruise, you can even officialy do the equivalent of legal street drag racing or just break the law and do it on an airstrip…it is very very realistic and very simulator regarding this. The auction house is also another simulator, its very real right down to the auction house taking a cut and investors fighting over a bargain like used car sales people at a surplus vehicle auction.

The other 20% is arcadish in the way there is no actual damage, and you collect skill points for doing silly things, find bonus boards to increase your levels etc infact the whole level thing is arcade and unappealing to me as a rev head and not a gamer.

Since i only play it for the realistic side, to me it is a simulator. I turn a blind eye to the other aspects of the game and enjoy the simulator part.
Others who play other games and enjoy collecting ballons and popping bubbles and creating skill chains it would be arcade for them and they no doubt have collecting level ups as a priority over joining a club and being a community member.

I guess they did their best to make it attractive to both camps and we see it how we like to play it.
I really dont see why there is such a big argument over what it is when its clearly both and up to the player to choose their gameplay.

Considering my reasons for playing, i find the HW expansion out of place and cannot get my head around having a serious race in a stupid environment, had the stupid environment have just been easy and stupidly fast to drive on for a day here and there and 100% fun based like it looks i would enjoy it more. As it is im grateful for the new cars but the HW track is largely unused on my game.

Does anyone with young kids have any advice on trying to persuade a 6 year old girl (soon to be 7) that she needs a Hot Wheels play set rather than more Shopkins for her birthday? It’s not for me, honest!

Do you have multiple accounts playing?

Comment below…thanks, unsure of the quote thing. LOL, new to this

Hello, It does say profile has been changed and the game will restart now? My 8 yo is crapping himself that he will lose all data within Forza and HWE. Cannot even get back to the world map at this stage. We changed back to the profile we signed in with in re to HWE but still saying profile changed…restart. But frightened to restart…any suggestions?

So you do have multiple accounts that play?

It sounds like you have changed profiles without exiting the game. This should not delete progress but I can not guarantee it.

Try pressing the guide button (big round button), on the left up the top should be accounts. Switch to the account your son is using that does not have access to HW. This should stop the restart request I think. If it does just make sure there is not a white spinning symbol bottom right and let the game get to a point where you are on the main map and nothing is happening and once again check no white spinning circle bottom right.

Then press guide button (big round button), go to the left to FH3, press menu (3 lines) and choose quit.

Then change to the profile that bought HW. Then go to options and make sure that is your home account / home console. Xbox Support

After that try switching back to your sons profile and try again. If it does not work make sure you quit out of the game, switch to the HW owning account and start the game.

Thanks for your response I shall try this. Cross fingers. Hes at school now…hope its going to be a good afternoon and not a [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] one!!!

To be able to race this expansion it requires driving and tuning skill. Wall riding and bombing corners will only de rail you.

Im ok with the serious racing attitude required to do this BUT I am strugglingto be a serious racer on such a non serious track…

I would have had more fun and stuck with it had it have been a balls to the wall high speed fun racer that required less skill than the main map and focused on the fun, seriously if this is supposed to be all about letting your hair down and having fun for a change of pace why is it actually more difficult than the road races…?

For an outright fun expansion the idea is cool, but why have on coming traffic and T junctions? I have never seen a hotwheels track where the cars have to stop…that is the bit thats stupid and kills it for me.

I will admit when I was a destructive kid we used to set up the hotwheels track from opposing ends of the room and launch the cars head on…but that got old quick and was not how hotwheels intended the tracks to be used, so why have it as compulsory here?

I just find it odd to have such a childish fantasy toy environment and demand a serious adult attitude to race it. Then top it off with oncoming traffic to kill even the realistic toy aspect.
